Your thoughts on the late Trevor Berbick?

Was he underrated or just not good? How good could he have been? Who are some fighters he could have beaten or matched up with? Just give me your true opinion on the late boxing champ.

Hey Johnnie! Although you just started the forum, you've been on a roll with your great questions!

Anyways, on to Trevor Berbick. I think he is rated just right. No one says he is an all time great, but at the same time, no one really says he is terrible. He's been WBC Heavyweight title before, and has some good names on his resume such as Pinklon Thomas, Muhammad Ali (past prime, but giving Ali his 5th loss.), Iran Barkley, and some other decent fighters. He is also known for getting knocked out by Mike Tyson.

I don't know if he could be too good. He possibly could have beaten Leon Spinks in my opinion. He could also beat Butterbean, lol. I think he'd be one of the best Heavyweights today, only behind the Klitschkos. He could beat guys like David Haye amd Tyson Fury.

Thanks!

Hello J....I didnt even know that he had passed away! What from? So much for sports center, they should have mentioned it,or if they did, more than once!Anyway,he seems almost a tragic figure..having great potential but not lasting or consistent..and trouble outside the ring. His life would make a pretty good and dramatic movie. As was mentioned,he may be a top boxer today if in his prime..but he had the misfortune of being one of the many who met Tyson..and got creamed.Say a little prayer and may he RIP.

He became champion in a good era for heavyweights. If he was boxing today he'd dominate all these tomato cans

He was a bum but in todays Heavyweight era he might be a tough contender seen as the heavyweights are bigger bums now
