The light middleweight is loaded with prominent talents and he could match up well and beat many in the field as Ishe Smith, Cornelius Brundage, James Kirkland, even Landy Lara and Vanes Martirosyan. But what's the point aside from earning some mollah and perhaps latching on another alphabet soup title? He got beat clearly by Mayweather and Trout and any more wins against the rest of the field at 154 lbs. will not erase those. Cotto has fought many tough fighters, very few would fight clottey knowing his tough style but lack of fame.

No. In his last fight, he picked a true contender instead of an easy, winnable fight and lost. If he had gone the other way, people would complain that he is cherry picking his opponents.
He's still 3'd in overall earnings behind Mayweahter and Pacquiao. Of the current top 154lbs fighters, I can't see him winning against any of them but he would still provide good and entertaining matches and I'd like to see him in there against guys like Vanes or Angulo.
