Despite their distance from the USA, Argentina and Brazil apart from being former Spanish and Portuguese colonies have been a melting pot since time immemorial and this was even accentuated with the influx of many Europeans, especially insular Spanish, Italian and Germanic people who were escaping troubles, wars, persecutions, repressions at home since before the turn of the last century. Some of their descendants could have gone on to sports Hence the surnames Locche, Coggi, Perez, Ginobili, Schmidt, etc..
Modern boxing started in England and was introduced to its former colony, the USA in the early 19th century. Since then, boxing has rivaled baseball, rugby football and lately basketball as the most popular sport in the USA.
Talking of China, that huge nation has its own forms of martial arts which it jealously protects and preserves against outside influence like Western-style boxing. That's why it only has produced as of to date one world pro boxing champion although it has also won some golds in international competitions in amateur boxing as the Olympics.
They're friendly nations, LOL. Nah kidding bro
Why isn't Boxing popular in other countries?
its always like that. One spectacular sport isnt as spectacular to another. Just 3 years ago, soccer isnt as popular in the Philippines. Can you believe that? What big league big league. But indeed the sport doesnt exist in most Filipinos back then when riots and mass hysteria are everywhere in Europe during soccer match ups. Truly each has his taste and to each his own.
Boxing is the sport of poor people. It is popular all over the world, from Latin America to Africa, to Europe and to Russia and even the Far East. Where have you been?
Boxing is the one of the most poplar sports in the world, What are you talking about?
Small population or no interest and no gyms in those countries.
Countries and regions like Central America. Mainly El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras. Nicaragua and Panama have some fighters so don't count them. And then South America like Uraguay, Paraguay, Brazil and Chile? Brazil I understand is more influenced by MMA so they take part in that and Colombia has a handful of fighters. So El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Uraguay, and Paraguay? Why isn't those countries producing anything? Because Argentina is quite far from the USA and they've still managed to be influenced and produced almost 50 world champions. So why not influence El Salvador and the others and why aren't they producing???
