Why is Canelo Alvarez a dangerous opponent for Floyd?

Why or why not

Alvarez is dangerous in the way that Cotto was dangerous, although I think that Alvarez hits harder than Cotto. He is big, strong, has a durable chin, and has decent movement.

People are saying that Floyd will duck Canelo and not want to fight him. I think to the contrary. Now is the perfect time to fight Alvarez. He is good, but he is not quite ready. In order to have a shot at beating Mayweather, Alvarez has to really increase his offensive output. I am not sure that he would be able to do that right now. We saw with Trout, that Canelo was content to land powerful shots, but one at time. You can't do that with Mayweather because he would be gone by the time you threw the second hard shot. You have to push Mayweather back, off balance and keep throwing shots at him. Alvarez is a good fighter, but he still has some fundamental flaws that Floyd can expose.

Alvarez is dangerous because he is young and big. Period. People think if Alvarez can catch Floyd, he will knock him out.

If Alvarez walked around the same weight as Floyd and he wasn't 22 years old, he'd be a nobody compared to Mayweather.

Alvarez's size makes people believe that he would give Mayweather problems. Couple that with his age and people begin to think he will throw enough punches to beat Mayweather.

Personally, after watching Canelo fight Trout, Mayweather would frustrate Alvarez and make him miss much like Guerrero did. A bigger guy you'd think has the advantage over Mayweather, but IMO, they are too slow.

I don't think at this moment he is a very dangerous opponent. He certainly is tough and I think it'd be a good fight but he'd have more of a shot to win in about 2 years and 3-6 more top level fights. Obviously he does have the size, the power, but what he doesn't have is the endurance which is key in a fight with Floyd as we see in so many of his fights.

Canelo unified titles at the age of 22 against someone bigger than him, slick, and a south paw in his prime who was ranked at #2. Plus Canelo is still learning as you saw in the trout fight. Floyd is at his peak. If he sticks around while Canelo learns much more experience then yes he can be a dangerous opponent for floyd.

His size and his power, nothing more. Mayweather has every single advantage except for those two things.

He is young with style, big and has power...Any fighter who has that is a dangerous fighter....

He's not.

Mayweather has consistently seen off these aggressive young bucks, their style suit his fight game perfectly
