I don't know why he does this I know of no benefit of doing it this way it is very distracting to the fighter because he has to turn around and look down for instructions . But this is his way of doing things not something I would do when you need to get in a fighters face can't do it from out side of the ring.

Yeah I dont like that about him, I think a trainer needs to bark orders into your face, give you motivation.. he obviously has his reasons though.
