Why do boxing have to dis mma?

I'm a boxer who loves MMA. Martial arts are all great to me. Boxing, muy thai, bjj,, etc, all disciplines.

If I ever say anything negative about MMA it's about the obvious steroid use.

Saying that, all sports use steroids.

It doesn't matter. The disprespect isn't gonna stop so why bother? I'm a fan of both sports. My current favorite MMA fighter is Cain Velasquez

Why? Because for years in the 2000s we had to constantly put up with bullsh!t comments about how MMA was taking over yet they never even came close to touching the numbers boxing does. And now they've all dissapeared and accepted that MMA is a smaller but act as if they would never say the things they said.

Another reason could be because of a comments like the one you made yourself: "Boxing only requires knowledge in standing", the key word here is "only". What MMA fans don't understand, as much as they always disagree and act like they know just as much about boxing as you, is the MASSIVE difference between boxing and stand up in MMA. There is so much more skill taking place in a boxing match than what meets the eye to an uneducated fan. MMA fans just don't see the little things taking place (And you can't fault them for that, it's not a sport they watch so why should they immediatley be able to see these things?) like footwork, angles etc. For example if one of them watched Floyd fight Canelo, what they see is Floyd "running" from Canelo. However, they are missing the boxing mastery taking place. Why couldn't Canelo catch Floyd? It's because every time Canelo set his feet to punch, Floyd would re-position backwards or move at an angle, forcing Canelo to not throw the combination or punch he was gonna throw. Why couldn't canelo Judge distance? Because Floyd would have his head positioned in front of his body, creating a false sense of range. Canelo thinks he's in range, gets ready to punch and before he knows it, Floyd is a few feet away of punching range. I could go on forever but I feel I'll lose your interest.

The word that best describes MMA stand up is "Punching", it's two guys swinging their fists about at the other's chin. All the power is generated from just the arms and they'll fall out of their boxing stance while they punch.

Obviously this is just a generalisation of the MMA fans I've spoken to on the internet, there will be fans that know loads about boxing as well and know the crack with numbers. But boxing fans "dis" MMA now and they will probably for a while, it's something you can't stop. It's stupid really, but I do get good laughs out of taking the piss out of MMA with my friends who are boxing fans, and I wouldn't feel angry or surprised if MMA fans did the same with boxing.

Respect, very sadly is aint everyone's stuff.

I followed your eanswer.

Every boxing fan I know talks crap on mma while every mma fan i know respects boxers 100%. Mma takes just as much dedication as boxing and to boot mma is a war on 3 fronts. They fight standing in the clinch and on the ground. Boxing only requires knowledge in standing. I love mma but at the same time my two favorite athletes are boxing legends muhammid Ali and jack Dempsey. Why can't boxing fans give mma the respect it's fans give boxing
