Why do boxer fight less these days?

to prevent brain and body organ damage that way hopefully if they manage their money right they can enjoy it.

Because it's more about how much money they can get these days and not the love of the sport. It takes about 6 months to build a Floyd Mayweather Jr PPV show, all the time is wasted on that rubbish rather than getting in the ring to give us what we want

Money, in the old days it was a job and no one got big money for fighting. Journey men could fight almost every week, and get less than $100 per fight.

Even the champions did not make fortunes because they only got the gate there was no t.v. or ppv.

Most only fight twice a year now as the tax consequence is way too much of a drain for more bouts.

Some fight less because they get paid more and don't need to fight alot a year to add up cash.

they are just now starting to figure out that it's really stupid to hit people.

in the 20th century boxers fight around 20 matches a year but now in the 21st century its about 3 to 10 matches a year , why ?

like floyd mayweather jr. who fought 2 matches for 2k13 and got 80 miljon for that hes just overated . cuz he may be pound for pound the best fighter in the world cuz hes undefeated for 17 years but his whole career (17 years) he just had 45 pro bouts. i was shocked. especially the pound 4 pound fighters fight less. or they scared to lose, but why do boxers fight less these days?
