Some people may overrate Canelo, but you're underrating him if you think Guerrero presents a tougher challenge. You say you weren't impressed by Canelo's win over Trout, but what was so impressive about Guerrero going to war (and taking big shots) against Berto, who is little more than a glorified gatekeeper? Trout, on the other hand, was at least coming off a signature victory over Cotto, who gave Mayweather one of his toughest fights in years. He was also an undefeated champ and that knockdown he suffered happened to be the only one of his pro career. IMO, Canelo could have won the fight more decisively, but because of open scoring, he coasted in the final rounds knowing that he had the fight in the bag. Also, I don't see how Bradley or Marquez stand a better chance of beating Mayweather than Canelo. Bradley is shorter than Mayweather and has little power, he has no chance of outboxing him or hurting him. And we already saw what happened with Marquez, so I don't know why you're even bringing that fight up.
As for Mosley's remarks: Canelo appeared to rock Mosley more consistently than Floyd managed to, but if he says they both have the same power, I'll take his word for it. However, it should be noted that Mosley also said that their speed is similar and that Canelo's defense is underrated. And according to him, he was in better shape for the Canelo fight than Mayweather (he had suffered an injury prior to that fight).
At any rate, Mayweather should be the clear favorite, no doubt, but Canelo is more proven than some of his last few opponents like Guerrero and Ortiz.
I litrally just answered a question about why Canelo wont be effective at all pressuring Floyd.
Anyway, people just seem to see his speed and power and his flashy combinations and think hes unbeatable. Theres way more to boxing than that. I'll just copy-paste that answer here:
"Canelo will NOT pressure Floyd any better than Cotto did. For one he has some very slow feet that no one seems to take notice of, and the fact that he doesnt know how to cut off the ring effectively compared to the likes of Golovkin or Roman Gonzalez.
The reason I say that is unlike those 2 or even Cotto, he doesnt walk behind a jab which did wonders to Cotto. If Canleo chose to pressure, he'll use his high guard and come straight forward to Floyd who in return will jab Canelo to the body and keep him off his tracks.
Even if u dont walk behind a jab, at least feint like Matthysse does. Canelo just covers up and walk right to u, sets his feet then unload. Thats what I like about GGG or Gonzalez, unlike Canelo, they dont have to be in position to set their feet to start punching which makes the likes of Canelo much more predictable. Canelo as not nearly as fluid coming forward as the guys I mentioned just because of the fact that he needs his feet set to punch and doesnt jab or feint effectively.
What I think Canelo should do, is fight the first 4 rounds on the outside and try to catch Floyd with something. if that didnt work then he changes gears and goes to hunt floyd. One more thing, I dont think Canelo has the tools to track down a mobile fighter like Matthysse or Gonzalez do regularly. I think Floyd's mobility will completely throw Canelo off his game"
that was my answer to an earlies question, i noticed most fans dont put nearly as much stock in foot positioning and balance as much as they do power and speed
Mosley won 2 rounds against Mayweather, he only won 1 against canelo. Just because trout threw alot and looked like he was landing doesn't mean he was jackass. Trout missed 86% of his jabs and had less power shots and less hits overall he was punching air all night. And his hits were blocked. Marquez did fight mayweather and it just proved be was too small stupid f u c k. Bradley would be no different. And no he didnt win because of the knockdown he won because trout couldn't handle his defense or hit him. Seriously you dont know s h I t about boxing. What are you 12?? Dumbass idiot learn to spell.
In 43 fights, he has never lost.
His last win was against an undefeated prime champion.
He is bigger than Floyd.
He is stronger than Floyd.
All that gives people the right to view him as a danger to Mayweather.
I don't expect him to win but will make a good showing of himself.
You know how it goes. Its media hype and every man Mayweather fights there is always some sense they believe they cant beat him. Even im guilty of the same damn thought. I like Canelo though. If Mayweather passes the torch, I wont be mad. I think he is clever for a youngster.
really ....
As a boxer i will tell you in both the Mosley and trout fight I saw him hit both guys with solid right hands.over and over.look how quickly he was unleashing his hands
Mosley said Canelo is a lot faster than you think and Canelos hand speed shocked him.
trust me Canelo will win remember you heard it here because god knows im bragging the next day to you
Well he beat trout with ease and trout beat cotto and cotto gave floyd a hard time.
Robert Guerrero looks better to me. I just watch the Alvarez Trout fight and if it wasint for the knock down in the 7th we would be talking about Trout vs Mayweather, there were people that said Trout really won even with the knock down,, The i watched his fight with mosely, i was not impressed .lol this is the guy you have beating Floyd, Floyd dominated a Mosely that was 3 years younger than the Mosely Alvarez fought and Floyd look light years better against him, i mean really how do you truely expect this guy to win? Ps Bardley or Marquez would be a better fight for Floyd than this kid, He Bearly beat Trout
