Mayweather beat everyone easily. He might not be a KO artist, but he's a very good technical boxer. He easily beat Oscar De La Hoya, JMM, Miguel Cotto, Shane Mosley, and Saul Alvarez easily, all via wide margin. Who cares about DLH and Alvarez judges scorecards, we all know Mayweather wins 8-9 rounds of DLH fight and 11-12 rounds of Alvarez fight. That's just so dominant. He beat the best of his era, except for Manny Pacquiao.
I admire Floyd Mayweather Jr. for all his hardwork and dedication. The hate from all his haters never let him down. Mayweather proved you can be cocky all you want, as long as you can prove that your words are worth. Mayweather backed up all his words. He didn't fight dirty at all. Since DLH fight, Mayweather only fought dirty once, against Hatton. The one against Ortiz wasn't, it was a retaliation for the intentional headbutt.
So, Mayweather proved that you don't need to be good looking or well loved by other people to be successful. We see idolized boxer like Oscar De La Hoya who is loved very much, getting cheers and getting helped by the judges.
Mayweather is the exact opposite of Oscar De La Hoya. Mayweather was hated everywhere, booed in every of his fights. The corrupt judges also tried to rob him, but they can't because Mayweather was so dominant. If the fight was close, no doubt the judges would have robbed Mayweather. Yet, Mayweather overcome all these odds, all the hate he received and he remains the best. A true role model.
Floyd had the greatest Career he's undefeated, and fought many champions.
In BHop's defense though he went 12 years with out a lost, and Knocked out a 40-0 Trinidad, and got the KO on a younger De la Hoya, then Floyd faced.
Whlad- is very dominant, but faced weak Competition, his last 2 opponents is a embarrassment to boxing.
The two most dominant fighters to me was Roy Jones, and James Toney. Their old and finished their careers bad, but in their prime they were basically unbeatable.
Floyd. He's 45-0. 22-0 vs world champions. He beat Oscar, Cotto and Canelo at 154...when he started at Super Featherweight. His defense is better than everyone. His punch connect percentage is the best. As a prize fighter... He makes the most money. 2 time Fighter of the Year. He beat Mosley, Judah and Baldomir at 147. Gatti at 140. Castillo at 135.
You know what picking B-Hop is not a bad choice. I said a long time ago when they gave fighter of the decade to manny B-Hop should have gotten it. He was undisputed champion for ten years at his weight and he still gets little credit so yes he should be recognized. But what Floyd has done is somthing that will not be forgotten and he is a special athlete that this era will get to tell the next era about. Hes are Ali you either hate him or you love him. Either way you look at him he is somthing to be watched. A special athlete like him does not come but only 30 or 40 years and when it all over the ones who hated him or loved him will ultimately miss him.
Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Floyd obviously, people wanted him fight Canelo and said Floyd would duck him, he fought him and beat him, Floyd has no loses, Benard lost twice to Jermaine Taylor. and lost badly to Roy Jones, by the time he beat him and Tarver for that matter they were both old and well past their primes, so he did not beat the best of his era, the only good prime fighter he beat was Winky Write. And Klitchko dominating the heavyweight division is like a Football player dominating the Canadian League because no one watches it talks about it or cares about it...
pacman and floyd
Me.
I think it's between 3 men;
1. Bernard Hopkins; the only universally recognized champion of the 3. At middleweight he had all 4 recognized belts, something Mayweather not Wladimir ever did. He is also the oldest champion with 21 title defenses of some recognized belts. He fought the best of his era including;
Roy Jones Jr.
Joe Calzaghe
Antonio Tarver
2. Floyd Mayweather; the undefeated pound for pound king. He has 16 successful title defenses of some of the recognized belts, he has never been the universally recognized champion in any division. His most decorated opponents were;
Baldomir
Canelo Alvarez
Oscar de la Hoya
3. Wladimir Klitschko; the heavyweight champion of the world. He has a RECORD 28 successful title defenses.
Some of his most prestigious opposition include;
Samuel Peter
Sultan Ibragimov
David Haye
Both Mayweather and Wladimir were accussed of not fighting the best of their era.
Mayweather was accused of not fighting; Kostya Tszyu, Paul Williams, Pacquiao.
Wladimir was accused of not fighting; Vitali [his brother] and Nikolai Valuev.
BHops was never accused of dodging anyone.
Who is greater and why?
