What the hell are you talking about saying Gatti was never universally recognized?
If you ask anyone about who had the most guts and heart in boxing, they'd say Gatti.
Gatti is definitely the greatest brawler because he wouldn't go down.
Marciano is 2nd for me because he never faced that great of opposition except ancient over-prime fighters.
Gatti is definitely the greatest brawler of all time, R.I.P.
You could name many great brawlers in boxing history but I'll only name a handful:
Jack Dempsey
Rocky Marciano
Micky Ward
Arturo Gatti
Jake Lamotta
Roberto Duran
Mike Tyson
Joe Frazier
Hope that helps!
The greatest brawler should be assessed by accomplishment. Arturo Ghatti was never a universally recognized champion so he should not be considered. If you want an ''all-time'' ranking, you should study history instead of naming someone you got to see.
If by brawler you mean power-puncher, than the greatest heavyweight brawler is between Rocky Marciano & Jack Dempsey [probably Marciano since he fought everyone of every race].
p4p the greatest brawler is probably Henry Armstrong.
Roberto Duran, Julio cesar chavez, rocky Marciano, George foreman, and jake lamotta oh by the way Tommy Hearns was a boxer not a brawler.
George Foreman. He wasn't just the hardest hitting heavyweight ever, he could also get the heavyweight champion title at the age of 40! Show me another heavyweight boxer who can do that!!!!!!! Plus he could destroy Joe Frazier in 2 rounds, even though Frazier had the hardest chin in heavyweight history (beside Ali, Holmes and Chuvalo) and Frazier was probably the greatest slugger ever.
Mike Tyson
My favorite was Arturo Gatti. My friend Dave says Boom Boom Mancini, and my other friend Ted says Tommy Hearns. Whos the best? And who is your fave?
