Bradley just earned his slot in the P4P because of his undeserved 2012 win over the Pacquiao so why would Pacquiao's rightful win over the same Bradley count that much? Who was Algieri before he fought and questionably beat Provodnikov?
Kovalev beating an old man? Did Marciano earn FOTY back in the 50s by beating an old faded Joe Louis alone ?
My heart bleeds for Roman Gonzales but the little big men of boxing are often overlooked by award-giving bodies in pro boxing.
I would say Manny pacquiao. After getting knocked out by marquez to be able to come back and win his last 3 fights. And the manner in which he outclassed Bradley and practically annihilated chris Algeria says alot about the kind of fighter he is. Yes he got knocked out but the way he came back when everyone thought he was done adds to his greatness and legacy.
Naoya Inoue is my Fighter of the year for me if he beats Omar Navarez.
Another guy that can be considered fighter of the year is Amnat Ruenroeng beating Rocky Fuentes, Kazuto Ioka and McWilliams Arroyo
Crawford after his schooling of Beltran
Believe me. BWAA will put Pac up there to add more pressure on Floyd. Everybody's working to drive Floyd out from hiding.
Crawford should win with ease tonight, and if he does he should be the fighter of the year.
Cases for each contender:
Pacquiao- Win over P4P no. 3 Bradley and an obliteration of Chris Algieri.
Kovalev: Wins over fringe contenders Agnew and Capellero as well as a win over ATG Hopkins.
Roman Gonzalez: 4 wins 4 KOs and got a new title in a new division. Between him and Pacquiao I think.
Honourable mentions:
Terrence Crawford if he wins tonight. His signiture win is Gamboa who was too small I think.
Naoya Inoue: wins over champ Hernandez and solid contender Samartlek Kokietgym. If he beats Omar Navarez he will probably be in pole position for 2014 FOTY.
For me either Pacquiao should be fighter of the year as he has the best win all year and to put Mayweather under pressure to finally fight him.
