Let's face it, the current welterweight scene is very weak. The only intriguing fights to be made there are against Pac (damaged goods), Bradley (no power) or a rematch with Marquez (blown up lightweight), but they're all with Arum anyway so you can rule them out. If this had been the early 80s, Floyd would have gone 0-3 against Leonard, Duran and Hearns, but against the B-level guys he's facing like Guerrero and Ortiz, he could go 100-0.
Well there is nobody that would even come close to having a 50% of winning, but there are a couple fighters who might have a 10% chance.
Right about now I would give Pacquiao a 10% chance. If this had been 3 or 4 years ago Pacquiao would have a 35 to 40% chance. But lately Pacquiao hasn't been very focused on boxing/training and his skill has been declining from that. Age seems to be affecting him more than Mayweather also.
Matthysse would have about a 5-8% chance if he decides to move up. We'll see if Floyd is willing to take that fight.
Amir Khan might have a 5% chance because of his style. Amir Khan can't take a punch.....but luckily Mayweather is not a puncher....he's a boxer. So therefore Amir Khan's speed and power and natural weight could give him a minimal chance.
I wouldn't give anybody else a chance really. Juan Marquez, Timothy Bradley, and Devon Alexander I don't think stylistically or skill wise could give Mayweather any trouble.
I don't think Mayweather will take the Pacquiao fight anymore because Pacquiao's winning percentage is too high of a gamble to take. Mayweather wants to end his career undefeated. No risks and big pay days.
Edit: Oh I forgot to mention Sergio Martinez. But Floyd will never be stupid enough to take that fight because Sergio is too good. Sergio would have...umm...maybe around a 30% chance of winning. Sergio has speed and power....which are 2 of the 3 things you need to beat floyd. The third is SIZE!
Floyd usually lands 200 punches per fight......but all of his smaller opponents generally land 40-80 punches. The fighters that are bigger than him land more....MUCH MORE.
Cotto and Guerrero managed to land a little over 100 punches against him. Meanwhile Jose Luis Castillo and Oscar De La Hoya have given him his 3 toughest fights. De La Hoya landed around 120 against him of probably the harder punches......meanwhile Casillo landed over 200 punches in the first fight! Something nobody has ever come close to doing.
Tim Bradley has the best chance. Floyd has lost just a hair of speed in his last few fights. Age does that to every boxer. Once you start to lose your reflexes anything can happen. Bradly would simply out hustle Floyd. He has all of the tools. Good chin, good defence, speed and is now still in his 20's starting to learn how to plant and throw hard punches when needed.
Second tier of welters with an outside chance are Alexander and Thurman. Two more fighters in thier 20's that are still getting better.
Floyd seams to be having more hand problems then he used to. If this were to happen with any of these three fighters it could spell trouble for Floyd. Mayweather could not possibly fight 5 more top fighters without a loss. History always repeats intself but we never learn.
there's a lot of tough opponents for floyd.... canelo who is also under GBP's roof... if floyd will only man up, stop being a pussy and face canelo at 154, but hey, he got hurt last time so...
now the welters, all his tough rivals is w/ arum... unless he stops blaming arum, be a professional businessman, set aside childish emos... grab some balls... then bigfights for floyo will happen.
but why do you think floyd flew away from HBO to a new nest called showtime?
only a nuthugger will think floyd is unbeatable
your not gonna out box floyd your best chance to beat him is by knocking him out. Matthyssee if you moves up in weight has the best chance to pull that off. Floyd's defense is good but Mosley shook him and ran out of gas. If mattyssee does it i don't think floyd will get a chance to survive.
Nobody. If Matthysee decides to move up to welterweight which he will. He could probably be the man
If it weren't for the sucker punch he pulled on Ortiz. Ortiz would have won. He was landing clean shots on his face.
Nobody in this era of boxing.
without a luck or a miracle? No one
Somebody he's not fighting to. And you know who.
And dont say canleo cuz hes a jr middleweight
