man, floyd's defense is the best in this era... no doubt about that...
but i dont believe it as ultimate enough to w/stand pac's offensive pressure...
also he cant do what jmm did, he doesnt have that nuclear righthand, man he doesnt even have a power punch, his hand is brittle he punches like a pillow w/ that grants extra fluffy gloves...
he got no weapon to stop pacquiao's onslaught at southpaw... his shoulder roll defense is perfect against orthodox but not if a swarm of blinding punches are coming from the opposite pole...
plus the 2009 pac can equal floyds speed, will pac be able to push him to the ropes?... doesnt need to, pac has the speed enough to swarm him in the middle... i see him trying to tie up pac, so he wont be running away on the mid rounds, he will change strategy and try to work pac from the inside, but pac's in and out will make it difficult for him to do that....i see him gettin hit more than what we saw on the cotto fight... and pac's crispy punches will make him bleed...we'll see his chin being tested for the 1st time and i can imagine him gettin KOed by pac back in 2009
Pacquiao, no doubt about it, the busy hands of the Pacman will put Mayweather on the defensive position. The Pacman can cut through, and when Mayweather was put into the ropes. He could duck one or two but not the speed of one who throws four to six punches. Both right and left of the Pacman is strong enough to Floyd..
The pacquaio that beat hatton and de la Hoya would demolish mayweather. The pacquaio of today would lose a one sided fight against floyd. N I don't know why everyone says mayweather is so much better at counter punching than Marquez. He's faster but that doesn't mean he's a better counter puncher. Watch his fights when someone charges in at floyd, he either throws a right cross or a check hook like the 1 he threw at hatton.Marquez may not have mayweathers speed but when it comes to countering, he throws hooks, uppercuts, you name it

All these Manny Naysayers forget that Xylocaine Floyd's hands are brittle without his PED hand-creme. Floyd has fabricated a cheater's career by avoiding fights with men in their prime (Pacquiao 2009 for example) and spent more tongue-wagging energy in the media just to push his biased cheating with more lies.
Everyone is forgetting that 2009-Pacquiao had extreme power + speed that Xylocaine Floyd has NEVER faced! Granted Floyd faced a little of it in the first 3-4 rounds against an Over-The-Hill Oscar De La Hoya but we all know a prime Oscar would have KO'd Xylocaine in 4 to 7 rounds!
Close call I think. If Mayweather will fight and not run I will bet for Pacquiao.
year 2009 then it would be a win for pacMan, but its 2013 and pacman is(in my opinion) becoming weak due to his age and job, I think... now mayweather will surely accept offerings of fight, knowing him :) :P
If this fight had happened in 2009, it would have lived up to the hype. You would have the best offensive boxer against the best defensive boxer. The difference for me would be how good the offensive fighter's defense is and how good the defensive fighter's offense is. Floyd's offense is better than Manny's defense. Floyd is a great counter puncher, with amazing accuracy. He is a better counter puncher than Marquez. It is Marquez and his counter punching that troubled Manny in all 4 of their fights and knocked him out in the 4th. Floyd is a better counter puncher than Juan. Floyd would be cautious and steal a close decision...unanimously.
EDIT: In regards to Lorna Dune's answer...styles make fights. If it were a brawl it would favor Manny. If it were a boxing match, Floyd would be at a total advantage. Manny using his amazing foot speed would try to cut off the ring and force Floyd to brawl. Floyd is fast footed too and would be landing going backwards, countering. He would make the in fight adjustments to take the fight. It would be an amazing 12 round chess match because both guys are very fit and have great stamina...so it goes to the cards.
If it's pure boxing, you have to favor Mayweather. If the fight becomes a brawl, you have to like Pacquiao.
