Which company will last longer, GBP or Top Rank?

BQ: which company is better and why? BQ2: ODLH or Bob Arum?

They'll both be around a long time. It's impossible to even speculate which would last longer. They're the two premier, most powerful promotions in the sport and won't be going anywhere.

BQ: Right now GB is better IMO, due to having a deeper roster and more elite fighters.

TR obviously has a very good roster too, and they have some GREAT blue chip prospects in their stable. Currently, GB is the better promotion though. Deeper roster, and they are constantly putting on great/entertaining cards.

BQII: Definitely Arum, he's a smart dude and has been at the top of the promotion game for years.

DLH doesn't do sh*t at GBP, and in general the guy is an idiot and probably incapable of making his own dinner.

Richard Schaefer is the guy who runs GBP. He used to be a banker in Switzerland and then DLH asked him to help develop Golden Boy Promotions, which he decided to do. There would be no Golden Boy Promotions without Richard Schaefer, and he's universally respected by everyone in the boxing business.

Schaefer is the man and the boss at GBP, Oscar is just the figurehead and face of it.

Top Rank has been there for decades now while GBP is still relatively new. But the manner GBP has matched and even surpassed TR now in the USA boxing circuit in less than twenty years of its existence says a lot about its future potentials. This may have prompted Bob Arum to cast his eyes on the overseas, specifically Macau in China to expand and project TR internationally to offset GBP's tremendous gains in the US. But alas, Arum's gambit might have hit a snag or suffered a sever setback with China losing its only world pro boxing championship recently.

Given that TR's roster of elite fighters is aging and there is clearly not one single fighter from its ranks that include the dour pair of Tim Bradley and Mikey Garcia to take over when the likes of Pacquiao and JMM finally hang them up, it is obviously at a disadvantage vis a vis GBP which counts on the high profile likes of Adrien Broner or Marcos Maidana, Danny Garcia and Lucas Matthyse ,Leo Santa Cruz, even Peter Quillin, Keith Thurman, Deontay Wilder and Gary Russell to continue when Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Bernard Hopkins bow out.

Over the long haul, TR has Vasyl Lomachjenko and Ryo Murata as future stars while GBP could count on Falcao Yamaguchi and Anthony Agogo as well as the Charlo brothers and Demetrius Andrade. It would be interesting who among these fighters would hit it big by that time as that would also dictate the course and fortune of the TR-GBP rivalry in the future.

You pose an interesting question. Two people add strength to each company. Bob Arum and Floyd Mayweather Jr. Right now, Top Rank has the edge. You could argue that Richard Schaefer and Oscar de la Hoya add luster to Golden Boy. Here is why that's probably not true.

.

While Schaefer is certainly a shrewd businessman, he's relatively unknown outside of boxing circles, compared to Bob Arum. Oscar is obviously well known but he really doesn't do much for GB except show his over inflated head every time a Mexican fighter heads a fight card.

.

De la Hoya started the company but he would be nowhere without Schaefer. Oscar turns off a lot of fans because he rarely ever stands by his word and he's overly partial to Mexican fighters, likely his effort to continue to win over Mexican fans who never accepted him.

.

The reason TR has the edge is because, if you take away Mayweather, GB loses a huge chunk of its overall bargaining power and overall strength. Mayweather is clearly the sport's biggest draw. However, he will retire soon. This leaves TR with the majority of the top boxers in the sport.

.

Bob Arum is nearing his mid-80s. He's ornery enough to live to 100 but it's not likely that he will remain a force at TR for much longer. You can bet he will linger on, probably until they bury him.

.

If Arum croaks and Mayweather retires, that still leaves TR with a slight edge. It only narrows the gab between the two. GB will still have Schaefer, one of the sharpest in the business. They also have De la Hoya -if he can keep his sorry butt out of rehab.

.

Now, if Leonard Ellerbe continues to work with GB after Mayweather retires, this would give GB an edge and might catapult them clearly past TR, especially if Arum -------bows out.

.

If Mayweather and Ellerbe decide to venture in another direction, this could actually create a third "Super power" in the sport of boxing.

If TopRank recruits a decent promoter after Arum then who knows.

As long as both keep bringing in good fighters and both are especially Top Rank

Golden Boy Promotions!!!!!

Simple answer... Whichever company provides the most exciting boxers.

Im pretty sure theyre still be around when youre already old and grampy
