Mayweather is great because he is economical; he throws few punches because he only throws when he knows he will land, and he doesn't get hit much.
Still; some of the greatest were aggressive boxers. Rocky Marciano was aggressive and most of his competition were technical economical boxers.
JCC, a brawler, went over 80 fights without a loss against the top of his era including many technical boxers [i doubt Floyd will be able to do that].
Well, he's pretty pretty close to a perfect fighter. Has the height, reach, good punching power, coordination, maybe the fastest hands and reflexes in the sport. Then throw in the fact he was raised by a family of boxers to box and has been doing since he could walk, the guys going to be tough to beat within 12 rounds.
Mainly his brain. He also has good hand speed, foot work, reflexes, head movement, stamina... I feel as though I've missed something out. Hmmmm... Oh and that philly shell defensive stance or wotever it's called. Boxers who face him have to head hunt which means they have less options if that makes any sense so all mayweather has to do is worry about punches to his head unless he gets pinned against the ropes which is a pure boxers nightmare as de la Hoya showed against him and how Alvarez should have done despite being worried about being open to counters while doing this
Because of his defensive skills, & he is an intelligent boxer, he just waits for the wrong move & uses his energy wisely
@Harley Drive
Really? Then tell me why Mayweather is one the greatest super featherweight amd has more hall of famers on his record than Pacquiao.
Because all the good boxers have converted to fighting in UFC, and there are not many difficult contenders in boxing like there used to be.
Dedication, discipline and hard work ...and skills
he looks good because of the poor quality of his opponents the selection of punchbags for champion's title defenses has devalued boxing for over 60 years
Simple. Fraud ain't gonna fight dangerous opponents.
I'm a Pac-Man fan(beacuse i'm half filipino) but i really like watching Floyd beacuse he is so entertaining when i watch him on HBO. but what makes him the best? and what can young boxers learn from him? when i see Floyd boxing and Manny the diffrince is Floyd is so Calm and Manny is so aggresive and he just goes straight in probly the reason why he lost against Marquez he was so aggresive and attacking.
