I am not impressed, he reminds me a bit of Jerry Cooney, who didn't impress me either. I won't every call anyone who steps into the ring a bum, it takes considerable courage to box, but Fury lacks the skills to be anything other than a journeyman. It is at best a solid club fighter, but nothing special.
Hes a flawed fighter but has some real good tools that could possibly make him one of the best.
Lets start with the negatives: hes a madly inconsistent fighter. Most think he has poor defesne, hes shown he has good defense but seems to forget about it alot and keeps his guard down kinda like he loses focus easily. Also for a tall fighter like Fury, he cant utilize his reach from distance, his jab is very average which for someone as tall as Fury will cause him trouble.
Positves: by HW standards he has speed, especially foot speed. Hes also one of the rare tall fighters who are more comfortable on the inside (like Riddick Bowe). He shown he can be patient and pick his shots (hes also shown that he can not), and we've not seen him yet seemed gassed which is a good thing for today's HWs
Good boxer, size advantage helps, and he uses it to his advantage. Whlad vs Fury needs to happen. Fury beat just as good competition, as the Champ, and he wont be able to bully Fury like he did Povetkin.
A huge bum with a loud mouth
I don't like him personally as a fighter, but I like his personality for entertainment value. He is cocky and has great physical gifts (advantage of height and reach). I think it says a lot that a blown up Cruiseweight like Steve Cunningham dropped him and he hasn't fought since then (almost a year).
