I used to watch hatton fights, because he was british but didnt keep up with boxing just because when he fought mayweather was a big fight. Then in the olympics last year someone from where i live boxed and i thought i want to be a champion so i started. now im 6 months in and its all i ever think about.
I go back to the late 50's.My father was a amateur/pro boxer back in the 30's in Manchester, NH. We use to go to the local Golden Gloves and also watch boxing on TV. Holly Mims, Eddie Cotton, Gaspa Ortega, were just some of the fights we'd watch. Sonny Liston was my favorite after Joe Louis. I had boxing in my blood right from the start. My father taught me boxing at an early age and stressed this. "Don't put them up, unless you intend to use them " Also, only for last ditch safety when your back is to the wall or for family protection.
I only took up boxing for fitness and to learn how to fight. but I really liked the ricky hatton vs kostya tszyu fight was rooting for ricky cos I am british never knew he would pull off the upset.
