Always cork screw and always IMPLODE YOUR ENERGY INSTEAD OF EXPLODING IT. Have good banance too.
I've been boxing for 8 years and I can say that almost all if not all power in a punch comes from your core and upper torso (chest) and arms. For example when you throw a hook it all stems from the twisting and torquing motion from your core and chest. In my opinion your legs and hips really have nothing to do with power in a punch. You do however "step into a straight punch" like a jab but that is to just help with the follow through with the punch. Your legs and footwork are mainly for defense. Good footwork and strong legs can keep you out of reach and out of the way when your opponent throws a punch. Strong legs also help in a stamina sense. For example strong legs will allow you to be able to "bounce around the ring" or street and wear your opponent down by making him chase you. Hope this helps!
I've been boxing for 12 years ever since I was 12 and the guys don't call me "Kid Mike Tyson" for nothing.
Here are ways to generate punching head-toe:
Head: Be focused on your opponent
Shoulders: Lift your arm up to your shoulder so you can generate power from your shoulder muscles
Arm: In your arm there is a bone that goes from your shoulder down to your to your two front knuckles it's the most solid bone in your arm
Chest: When you punch twist your chest to the side so that you can generate power from that "whipping" motion
Core: Use your core! All of the power in your punches comes through your core. Because, just think about it, your stomach is connected to your chest, which is connected to your shoulder, which is connected to your core.
Hips: Whip your hips. That's where most of the motion power comes from.
Legs: Use the power from both of your legs to keep a grounded punch. They teach this in Karate use power from the ground in a way lift the energy out of the ground. That's the secret behind Bruce Lee's one inch punch.
Another power punching secret Implosive Punching: Here's the link for how to do that, I thought I had the strongest punch ever until I learned about this. http://www.expertboxing.com/boxing-techn...
Generating punching power starts from the ground up. Ball of the feet, legs, and core are all involved. Twisting of the core, shoulder and to finish snapping the arm and twisting the fist on impact, you can impart all that stored up energy from the ground up to deliver a powerful punch. you combine all of this with speed, AND beating the opponent to the punch.
Twist your shoulder very sharply and twist you fist as soon as you are about to land the punch!
besides using legs and hips? if there is any.
