Ernie Shavers and George Foreman have got to be up there, as well as Leon Spinks. Am I right or wrong about this?
1.Frazier 3--Thrilla in Manila, the ultimate in boxing survival. In a virtual war of attrition, Ali forced a stoppage in the 14th round by ravaging Frazier's face and almost sending him out of his feet in the previous round.
2. Liston 1---Shook the world by stopping the heavy favorite. He so outclassed Liston that the macho man opted to quit on his stool than face the specter of a shameful KO which actually happened in their rematch a few months later.
3. Foreman---Again shook the world by knocking out the undefeated heavy favorite KO artist champion. The boxing world was re-introduced to his boxing genius through the rope a dope.
4. Bonavena---Stopped the formerly unstoppable Argentine in the penultimate round of a a highly competitive 15 rounder.
5. Shavers---had to survive some shaky moments to beat the KO punching, bald-headed tough contender
6. Patterson---outsped the speedster and outboxed the boxer in scoring an easy win
7. Frazier 2----showed that the first loss was somewhat a fluke by scoring a 12 round UD and lined himself up for a crack at new champ Foreman. He was denied a KO or TKO in an earlier round when the ref thought he heard the bell sounded and interrupted the action as Ali had Frazier tottering with a blistering combo.
8. Norton 2---avenged his only other loss at that point by outslugging the tough ex-Marine
9. Frazier 1--even in defeat, Ali showed magnificence and class.
10. Norton 1---fought with a broke jaw from the second round on without his own corner and the other corner knowing it and bravely hang on till the end, losing by just SD.
