Was ali better than sugar ray robinson?

Posted at: 2015-04-20
Absolutely...Ali is always better because he is a heavy and one of a kind...People make robinson p4p greatest because with all those accomplishment he died very poor....But he aint the greatest mthrfkcer...........

People always say, even ali said the robinson is the greatest...True, but michael jordan, magic johnson said also that larry bird is the greatest...Its just simply hype man, what makes so funny is that there are people here who said they follow the career of robinson? really...they must be 80 years old or something...Even if you look at the documentaries and tapes, validate it all...Still Ali is the greatest than robinson...

No, but given Ali's size and speed he was the best Heavyweight in history. There have been several lighter weight fighters who were as skilled or better than Ali, but there haven't been any heavyweights who could equal a peak Ali. Even Ali himself said Sugar Ray Robinson was better than he was, almost all experts universally agree Sugar Ray Robinson was the best boxer in history.

Nope, mostly the casual fans who don't follow boxing very much and that doesn't know much about Sugar Ray Robinson think of Ali is the #1 Greatest but every hardcore fan would tell you that Sugar Ray Robinson is THE Number 1 Greatest boxer of all time. Even Muhammad Ali himself said so.

Speaking of boxing per se, I think Robinson was better than Ali.

But speaking of accomplishments and contribution in the sport and beyond it, Ali was far, far better than Robinson. In his time, Ali was the main man, the face of boxing, he deferred to no other fighter in all boxing divisions. On the other hand, Robinson was the main man at welter and middleweight but he was only second in mention to the great heavyweight champions Joe Louis and Rocky Marciano who were his contemporaries. Like Robinson, Ali made many opponents famous but unlike Sugar Ray, Ali also made them fabulously rich. Robinson was in the game for decades but the only thing that he contributed was starting the fad of the entourage. By comparison, Ali launched the dawning of million dollar super fights in the USA and abroad as far as Asia and Africa, the prototype of the dollar machine we now know as PPV and others. Ali was extremely popular but he never used that to endorse or sell commercial products to earn more money. Instead he used his popularity and influence for the advancement of peace and equality among men across the globe, to this day.

Ali transcended boxing and sports like no one before and after him. Robinson never stray beyond boxing except for a brief stint at dancing and acting which only fed his own ego.

Ali is THE GOAT in boxing and beyond.

Ali's resume beats robinsons in quality but falls way behind for quantity.at one stage RRR had a record of 128-1-2 w.l.d

they both regained there title 3 times but robinson had previously won the WW strap

acheivements wise theres nothing else really seperating the 2.robinson was a 2 weight world champion but ali covered more weight as a heavyweight.longevity wise they're about even.

when watching gideos though one thing is clear .RRR is the GOAT

No Ali is in the conversation but like I said for most of Robinsons first 100 fights he was unbeatable going 128-1 at one point in his career

Yes he lost a number of fights later but to start out 128-1 is just amazing and not suppose to be possible

Not even close. SRR lost once in 128 fights and he has more HOF competition on his resume then just about any other fighter in boxing history.

No @Rajan is just a bandwagoner who's never watched SRR fight.

yup WAY BETTER
