No not at all. Cooney fought a bunch of washed up past prime 1970s heavyweights Ron Lyle Jimmy Young and Ken Norton. He was overmatched however fought a good fight against the great Larry Holmes. He did have a vicious left hook. I do not feel his heart was in boxing. After the loss to Holmes he only fought 5 times from 1984 to 1990. His record was 3-2 and he suffered 2 knockouts to Michael Spinks and a comebacking George Foreman.
