WBC Heavyweight title vacant, should there be a tournament?

They should definitely have a 4 fight tournament.

Bracket 1: #1 contender Berman stiviern vs. Chris arreola.

Bracket 2: Deontay wilder vs. Tyson fury.

The winner of both fights should fight for the vacate WBC title.

This must mean that Vitali has officially retired or, less likely, the WBC stripped him. Either way, it's likely that Wladimir will want the title his brother once held.

.

It's likely that his desires will be attended to. That is that, if Wladimir wants to fight for the WBC title, he will. They will pick something called a "number one contender", like there's even a such thing anymore. That person will be fed to Wladimir and the "formality" will result in Wladimir becoming the Undisputed Champion, like that wasn't already the case.

.

No sane person ever expected Wladimir to fight his brother so the boxing world chooses one or the other to be top dog. That would be Wladimir for obvious reasons.

.

Does it make sense to stage an elimination tournament between the top 4? No. Most people don't care about the heavyweight division. Who wants to watch guys like Povetkin and Pulev hug and waltz? For the sake of the sport, it might just be a good idea to have one of the hapless challengers face Wladimir and bill it as his unification coronation.

.

Another idea might be to see if Deontay Wilder's hallow undefeated record really means anything and pair him against Chris Arreola. Arreola is ranked and Wilder is not. But if, at this point, he can't beat Arreola, he will likely not do anything in the division worth talking about.

.

There is also Tyson Fury and there is Bermane Stiverne and that guy named David Haye. The bottom line is that the heavyweight division is in terrible shape and would be even worse if Wladimir decides to retire. I don't see him sticking around much longer if Vitali is retired.

The WBC has the folowing as contenders as of its latest ranking:

1, Bermane Stivern

2. Chris Arreola

3. Deontay Wilder

4. Bryant Jennings

5. Mike Perez

6. Derek Chisora

7. Manuel Charr

8. Tyson Fury

9. Tomasz Adamek

10.Odlanier Solis

I would go for an eight-man tournament with the winners advancing to the semis and the top two winners fighting it out for the vacant championship. Considering that # 10 Solis and # 7 Charr failed miserably in their tries versus Klitschko, I would not include them in the tournament. It would follow the reverse order of ranking with # 1 Stivern going up against # 8 Fury; # 2 Arreola vs. # 9 Adamek; # 3 Wilder vs. # 6 Chisora and # 4 Jennings vs. # 5 Perez.

The tournament should be like this

Fight #1- Bermane Stiverne VS Bryant Jennings

Fight #2 -Chris Arreola VS Dereck Chisora

Deontay Wilder doesn't need to be in this tournament yet ,he hasn't been against top competition and it's too big of a step up in competition for him ,put him in a preliminary bout against Dominick Guinn ,Oliver McCall or Alexander Demintrinko.

Semi Final Match Up

Bermane Stivern vs. Alexander Povetkin

Semi Final Match Up

David Haye vs. Tyson Fury

Finals Match Up

Bermane Stivern vs. David Haye?

There should be a tournament between the best top contenders in the sport.

Winner gets to unify against the great Wladimir

Just let Arreola vs Stivern happen and then Wilder become the mandatory of the winner.

Vitali Klitschko got scared of Denotay Wilder......Finally someone his own size Vitali Klitschko is a coward.

Would a 4 boxer tournament be a good idea to decide who gets to fight for the belt, or should it just be between the top contender and someone else?
