ultimately i don't think roaches style was the way forward for kahn .it may have progressed him further in the short term but not in the long term.if he cannot make good of what hunter is teaching him (as talented as he is) i don't see no light at the end of the tunnel for kahn.
he needs to show us a huge improvement in his fight.if he dosn't i am no longer a beleiver in kahn.his chin will have proved to much of a floor to overcome
Khan should seriously consider hiring one of the Mayweather's as his trainer. Imagine Khan's speed combined with epic defense. Granted, it will take a loooooon time before Khan can defend himself properly, even wit ha Mayweather as a trainer, but slowly he can do it.
It's not to late for Khan, he needs a Mayweather! Roger or Floyd Sr., doesn't matter, just get one of them! NOW.
Another good trainer is Pedro Diaz(Cotto, Rigondeaux) trainer. Pedro probably won't work on drastically improving Khan's defense(I think), but he will train according to his opponents way of fighting. Not just punching and punching, exposing the jaw.
Again, it's not to late for Khan, all he needs is a good trainer and maybe take a few months off so that he can focus on improving his defensive game. It's no doubt that Khan's ultimate goal at the moment is a Garcia rematch. He needs to watch out for Danny's hooks in a rematch.
I agree with you. Being a khan fan I say the aggressive style must stay or his opponent will continue coming towards him. He was not landing much punches which is bad reason being he's not an ko artist, more of a tko artist so he should contue that with good defence. I really do feel sorry for him though, you can see he has potential but only if he started working on defence and stuff right at the start he would of been unstable. At the moment most nearly all his fighters on the level he is will be tough.
Hate I missed it sounds like Khan bought into the idea he needs a new hot trainer. All fighters do this and none of them are happy. Khan needs to go back where he was and bring a Hunter or someone else in as needed. There is no need to fire the trainer you who got you there. I can't wait to see it tomorrow.
Khan is looking really bad under Hunter, give it a few more fights see how it goes
a lot of people blaming hunter is not hunter's fault people amir khan's has a weak chin,he can't take a punch that's what roach said doesn't matter who trains him it is what it is you just can't train a chin simple as that.
Ok.... I was truly shocked whilst watching the Khan vs Diaz fight...
Khan has taken two steps backward with regards to defensive moves...
From the second round onwards, Khan was getting picked off at will by Diaz, there was no improved counter moves what so ever... None!
If anything.. I think Virgil Hunter has weakened Khans claim to the elite... Diaz caught Khan with the exact same hook that Garcia caught him with... It was like an action replay, except exit Garcia, enter Diaz.
During the last six rounds of the fight, I was expecting Khan to be decked at anytime.. It was a testament to his resilience, and fighting spirit that he made the distance - It certainly wasn't due to Hunters words of wisdom, or what horse play he got up to in the gym...
Amir Khan is not a thinking boxer... He does not, and never has, relied on intelligence to think his way out of a fight. Khan's approach has always been to throw the kitchin sink at his opponent, and depend on his speed to get him out of there before the counter punches arrive...
Based on what I seen tonight, I wouldn't put Khan in with any of the top twenty at the moment. He is 'cannon fodder' for all and sundry!
Khan needs to go back to what he does best - Use his speed to his advantage, get up close and personal.... all this pussy footing around will be the end of him..
Agree or Disagree??
Should he stay with Virgil Hunter? What does Hunter bring to the table? Was Roach his best option?
