This is a legit fight against a top Welterweight in his prime and at his best. You don't get to see this much these days. Miguel Cotto was supposed to be the guy Canelo beats to get his fight with Mayweather. If Trout wins he goes onto bigger and better things and Canelo is still an exciting red headed Mexican who likes to fight so he will still be marketable. A fight with Floyd might be out but still might be available, because if Trout is as good as he looks and is good enough to beat Canelo then Mayweather probably wont fight Trout anyways.
I think it was the right move! Finally a fighter who ignore his handlers and does what a fighter does, FIGHT! he was supposed to fight Coto and Trout beat him so naturally he should fight Trout, any other fight would be a joke and Canelo knew that. If he had fought Coto anyways instead of Trout he would have been tagged like Mayweather, a ducker, avoider, cherry picker, he is fighting a prime legit guy, probably the best fighter he has fought yet, difficult style, tall, fast moves well. All respect to Alverez for taking the fight and being what a true fighter is.
If Canelo loses he is still young and still has appeal, the Mayweather fight could still happen, and if not Canelo can still continue to be Golden Boys poster child. If Trout is to win then Mayweather should include him in his 6 opponents to fight, likely he wont, but he should.
I think Canelo wins this though, I think he will beat Trouts body into submission. It will likely go the distance because i think Trout spends the second half running.

1- I don't think that the date will matter. Both fighters are the real deal. Both are always in shape.
2- I take my hat off to both fighters for making this happen. I can't find any fault in Canelo nomatter why he took this fight. The point is he DID. I also think that if the fight is competitive, it hurts neither fighter. But I also think that Trout is no easy fight by any means. Trout has a very, very good chance of winning this one. Two young guys at the prime of their careers risking their 0's is refreshing and reminds me of the 70's when top undefeated fighters fought each other, and often. Forget about Floyd. I want to see this one.
As long as there is not a devastating KO, I think the the future is bright for both fighters. And if it's a payday with Floyd, let them have it. These guys are getting bigger by the fight. Soon they won't need Mayweather.
first of all I don't agree with the guy that said about African americans getting no respect in boxing. A lot of them get respect.
1. I think its a good move for Canelo. He is a big attraction amongst Mexicans and Mexican americans they are going to pay to watch him fight. As for mayweather his ppv numbers drop a lil.
2. Idk I feel trout is going to win this fight, I might be wrong. And trout should be next for mayweather. Trout has called him out when he beats canelo.
1.It was not a good move for Canelo. The only thing I can see where it might not hurt his reputation AS BAD IS THERE WONT BE AS MANY PEOPLE TO SEE HIM GET HIS A$$ KICKED . Trout is going to win this fight easy if it happens.
2.Trout is going to win this fight let get this straight right now. Nothing will change for either fighter . There is a double standard when it comes to african american fighters and other. If a black fighter he loses it will put him so far back it may take years for him to make it back. Canelo has the biggest promotion company behind him he will be fine. This is just one of the many things that piss me off about boxing. The best fighters are the african americans but they get less respect than any other group.
1)Do you think it was a good move for Canelo to change the fight date just because Floyd did not want to sign a paper?
2) Let's be honest, the whole point of this fight is for Canelo to win against a legit opponent so that he can get a Mayweather fight in September(assuming Floyd also wins). What would happen if Trout wins? What would be a possible future for both?
