The worst premature boxing stoppages?

I mean where the ref. ended the fight when he shouldn't have .

I thought the Donavan Ruddick/Mike Tyson fight ref'ed by Richard Steele was a bit premature, Mike had rocked Ruddick with some hard shots, but Ruddick was alert and firing back. I guess Mike had such a fearsome rep that when he landed, Steele expected Ruddick to fold like the rest of Mike's victims had, so he stepped in and stopped it. Ruddick didn't protest long or loud, but most though it was a bit quick.

I watched the first Chavez/Taylor fight and I had Meldrick Taylor winning every round, but Taylor was taking huge punishment and his face was as beat up as Berto's was a while back. When he went down, Steele was truly unaware of the time and only concerned with the fighters welfare. I though the stoppage was correct. Given Taylor's condition today, maybe Steele should have stopped that one much earlier then he did, the documentary HBO did on Meldrick Taylor was tragic and heart rending and that fight was about as brutal as it gets.

Joe Calzaghe vs Peter Manfredo Jr was a very bad stoppage. Manfredo Jr was against the roped and taking shots but most of them were hitting his gloves and arms. He didn't seem hurt and was about to start punching back when the ref jumped in and stopped it.

I'm a Calzaghe fan and I have no doubt that Calzaghe would have stopped Manfrado Jr, maybe within the round, but it was a world title fight and shouldn't have been stopped like that. Manfredo Jr had finally got what he always wanted, a shot at the world title, and he should have been given every chance to fight for it, without the ref ruining it for him.

2 secs left in the 15th and laast round. And the ref halts the bout. Does that ring a bell to you buddy?

20 years ago, Julio Cesar Chavez sr and Meldrick Taylor -two undefeated fighters, two champions slugging it out for 15 rounds with Taylor benefiting much with the exchanges and on the verge of giving Chavez his first defeat and Referee Richard Steel had to step in the way. You're asking the worst boxing stoppage bro? This one was horrible. Taylor did suffer a knock down but being the champion that he was, stood and beat the count but not enough for Steele to give credit where credit is due. He waved the fight off. Can you believe that? 2 secs man. Even Young Mike in there with Meldrick wouldnt be able to finish him off much less Chavez sr. Sure the third man was never looking at his watch but in hindsight, he should have known better how much of the time was gone in the course of the action

Mike Weaver is well known for his ability to take punishment and come back. Dokes 1st round TKO to win the title from Waever was a joke. Weaver was not throwing back but none of Dokes' punches were getting through either. Definitely a blatant early stoppage for the heavyweight title on the line.

Is Ali the only fighter allowed to do the rope-a-dope?

Vitali vs Charr There was a lot of blood but the cut wasn't severe enough to stop the fight. They should have given the cutman a chance to close it and they should have given Vitali 2 more rounds to knock Charr out. Everybody got robbed in this fight.

Marquez vs Pacquiao 4

Definitely Joe Calzaghe VS Peter Manfredo Jr. ,Manfredo was on the ropes blocking all of Calzaghes' punches with his gloves ,the referee didn't give Manfredo any warning nor a standing 8 count ,they just stopped it.

The worst one I have ever heard of is when a friend of mine had a fight stopped because of a bloody nose. Ridiculous.

typical refs in sport!
