Statistics Don't Lie; Antonio Margarito vs Floyd Mayweather Jr.?

Punch numbers ignore the power aspect.

I dont credit Margarito for his wins given he was caught cheating. Had he fought fair, he wouldn't have worn opposition out so easily and might have taken more hits himself.

It's easy for him to be brave wanting to fight opponents in the knowledge his hands are wrapped in plaster. Pretty sure most fighters would be brave with that in mind.

Margarito KOed Martinez, Cotto and Cintron with loaded gloves, he belongs in prison not in the ring.

I've already stated that I don't put a whole lot of faith into punch statistics, even if they can be accurate.

I'd just like to say that this reminds me of how badly Mosley beat the sh*t out of Margarito, and that Margarito has to have the best chin I've seen in my lifetime.

What would happen if Felix Trinidad faced Shane Mosley. They have three common opponents, they fought in similar weight classes, and they fought during similar time periods ?

You stats look pretty accurate bro. I was wondering what's the stats if Floyd ever fought fought Lara? I'll highly appreciate it.

You keep going on with this statistics crap like you will be right eventually. STATISTICS DO LIE AND DO NOT PROVE ANYTHING. It is there to look at, not to draw conclusions. These analyses of yours are ridiculous.

These stats are neat, but they don't take in the mental side of things.

Floyd Mayweather has been accused of dodging Antonio Margarito; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_BWElcszSY

Back when Margarito broke Joshua Clotteys arm, knocked out prime Kermit Cintron, prime Miguel Cotto & middleweight king Sergio Martinez + held his own against Paul Williams for 12 rounds at 147lbs; Mayweather might have been dodging him. After the Cotto fight Margarito was the hottest fighter out there but he couldn't get a fight for over a year until a not so hot Mosley got a secured payday for a fight.

But the truth came out; Antonio Margarito was using plaster.

If a clean Antonio Margarito fought a clean Floyd Mayweather Jr, Mayweather would have landed 15.7 more punches per round than what he absorbed.

This means that if Margarito landed 157 punches [as much as he landed on Cotto in their second bout] he would absorb about 398 punches in a 12 round fight.

That's a bigger *** woppin than the one Cotto gave him in their second bout! It would also be Floyd Mayweathers best statistical performance since the Diego fight where he landed a solid 16 more punches per round than what he absorbed!

Floyd Mayweather lacks power @ 147lbs but with this kind of punch stats i could see the ref stopping the bout in the later stages of the fight.

Statistics;

Antonio Margarito;

vs Mosley; landed 108 - absorbed 178 = -70 ÷ 9 rounds = -7.8

vs Cotto; landed 157 - absorbed 210 = -53 ÷ 9 rounds = -5.9

Total; -13.7 ÷ 2 fighters = 6.85 less punches landed than absorbed per round.

Floyd Mayweather Jr.;

vs Mosley; landed 208 - absorbed 92 = 116 advantage ÷ 12 rounds = 9.6

vs Cotto; landed 179 - absorbed 105 = 74 advantage ÷ 12 rounds = 6.2

Total; 15.8 ÷ 2 fighters = 7.9 more punches landed than absorbed per round.

7.9 - -7.8 = 15.7 more punches landed than absorbed per round in Floyd Mayweathers favor.

I used the second Cotto fight with Margarito as my source since no plaster was used during the bout.

Thoughts?
