I doubt at any decent club you will do much sparring in the first couple of months. At the club I go, you would gradually build up. For example after a good few months when your ready, you would be paired with someone more experienced and you would have to attack and he would defend only and not hit back, which will then develop into full sparring.
First lesson will be a lot of fitness, basic technique training and bag work. You wont do any sparring on your first day.
You wont spar for a while. You'll have to get the basics under your belt jabing etc. Don't let sparring put you off they wont let you get hurt. Sparrings great once you get started. By the way don't let brian get on your nerves pros get brain damage but you are highly unlikely as the amateur ranks are as safe as any other sport really. People who want boxing banned NEVER know anything about boxing. You will not meet any boxers who want it banned because they are the only people who truly understand.
Everyone gets nervous at first I still am and I got 2 yrs exp. I remember ma first class they wer rough with me and hit me in the head wen I didn't keep ma hands up.. But in time as u get better they will put u to sparr ,it will only suck if they put u up against more exo fighters than u thts wen u get a beatin but idk if thts just ma gym and it gets u a lot better but u get use to everything In time..it also depends on ur coach and gym some guys train harder than others.
Yes you should any good coach will not let you spar untill your ready.
No, you will end up brain damaged.
There are attempts to ban boxing because of this and it makes sense. If you spend long enough getting hit in the face, you will end up brain damaged.
I was thinking of taking boxing, but I'm kind of nervous, mainly because of sparring. What are your first few lessons like? And should I Worry About Sparring?
