Good question and interesting match up! Oscar Bonavena was a tough fighter with an almost reckless style with a strong chin and good power. He had Joe Frazier on the canvas twice in their first fight and many feel that he deserved the decision. He also gave Muhammad Ali quite a fight before losing by 15th round TKO and was one of the top contenders during a great era of boxing. But even with all that being said, he was still not even close to being in the same league with the great Rocky Marciano! Rocky was perhaps the most durable fighter of modern times and had an underrated defense getting into a low crouch and was not the punching bag some have portrayed him as even though he could take a good shot. He also had great punching power in both hands compiling 43 knockouts out of 49 fights. He trained religiously and would run sometimes up to 12 miles daily while training and had the ability to knock his opponent pout at anytime during the fight. Bonavena is the bigger man here but Rocky is chiseled and stronger. Neither has a speed advantage but Marciano had a better defense and though Bonavena hit hard, he didn't hit as hard as the Rock! This would hae been an exciting fight and Bonavena would do well but in the process would have to endure a battering along the way as Marciano would eentually and tirelessly wear Ringo down and eventually win by TKO.

Rock of course, Marciano was superior to Bonavena in all aspects of the game.
