Hello Matt! This is a match up of two fighters that retired undefeated as heavyweights! Tunney lost one career fight to Greb as a light heavyweight and Marciano retired undefeated at 49-0-0 with 43 kayo's. Tunney is the superior boxer with far greater footwork and speed and a masterful counter puncher so I could easily see him giving Marciano a very difficult fight and having the capability of making Marciano miss often and moving out of harms way and winning the decision. I also can se Marciano hammering Tunney's body including his arms and slowing down the quick moving Marine and stopping him late n the fight using his superior power and strength to his advantage much like he did vs Ezzard Charles and Roland La Starza. Either way it would have been a tough fight and most likely a close one too that really could go either way betwenn these two great Champions. My pick here is Marciano stopping the proud Marine after being behind on all scorecards in a fantastic fight.
Marciano W TKO12
Over 15 rounds the much harder hitting Marciano wears down the faster, slick Tunney, and stops him late.
Several fighters claimed that after Marciano hit them on the arms for a few rounds they could not move their arms, so blocking punches would eventually lead to not being able to throw punches, and Tunney would be defenseless.
tunney builds up an early lead, but marciano closes the gap and scores a ko in 10.
