Raymundo Beltran had lost fights to Ameth Diaz, Sharif Bogere and Luis Ramos in the recent years but he has strongly bounced back with wins over world rated JI Hoon Kim and Hank Lundy and hence he somewhat deserves this title crack.
I also think Burns deserves an easier ( on paper at least ) title defense this time after tangling with the tougher than expected foursome of Michael Katsidis, Paulus Moses, Kevin Mitchell and Jose Gonzales in his last four outings.
However, as in the Gonzales fight, Burns should know that there really is no easy title fight and he cannot under estimate any opponent.
I still think though that Burns would belt Beltran by 12 round UD.
So Burns not only ducked Broner but Vazquez too? damn... But Beltran is tough as nails, not a huge puncher and not really slick defensively but he'll give Ricky some good work. I have Ricky by decision.
@R. Salido:
How the hell did you come to the conclusion Burns ducked Vazquez? Burns signed a contract to fight Vazquez & Vazquez pulled out with a "doctors" note saying he was sick. Even though there were pics of him sparring the day after he pulled out "sick".
What are your thoughts on this fight and what will the outcome be?
Personally I think its an ok fight for Burns, however I was hoping for a unification fight after Matchroom promised so much. Beltran is a decent boxer and it will be a good fight with both boxers going to war, but I hoped Matchroom would get Ricky a bigger fight.
