I remember him fighting Larry Holmes.. It should have been a training session for the eastern assassin, he wasn't expected to even break sweat against the 'truth Williams'... Boy was he wrong!
Carl Williams put up a great performance against the champ, some believe he nicked it, I didn't.
What I do believe, is a young boxer gave it his all that night, against the second best heavyweight of all time (In my opinion)... He held his own, and got the respect of all boxing fans around the world.
His best performance was certainly against Larry Holmes
Doesn't matter what his worst performance was.... How many people would even have the guts to step into a ring with the then ferocious Iron Mike Tyson?
Carl Williams RIP
Best performance- 10th round TKO over Jesse Ferguson
Worst performance- Getting KO'd by Mike Tyson
Remembered for- Controversial loss to Larry Holmes
Arguably, his performance against Larry Holmes may be his best. The Bert Cooper stoppage was impressive.Worst, loss to Larry Holmes.Probably most remembered for the disputed loss to Holmes, though I understand he was the #1 Heavyweight in the world as an amateur when he turned pro.
Goddamn, why does this keep happening?!
RIP Carl "The Truth" Williams
RIP Michael "Dynamite" Dokes
RIP Hector "Macho" Camacho
RIP Carmine Basilio
Bad news today RIP brother. The thing that sticks out the most for me is he was a imposing figure. He was a really good fighter.
RIP
vs holmes(Williams won that fight IMO)

The boxing community mourns yet another loss, our prayers go with the family. He will be missed.
