Question on Mayweather.?

There is no question Floyd was/is the dominant fighter of his era. I have almost no respect for Joe Calzaghe, I think Ricky Hatton was more of a champion than Joe. The Klitschko's fought the competition that was available for the most part, but there is a stigma over fighting a European fighter in Europe that is almost as dirty as the fixes Don King and Bob Arum engineered in the U.S. Boxing has always been a sewer, it just so happens with the advent of modern media and the internet, it is far more visible to those who want to look at it. Still, Floyd has managed to become the most financially successful boxer in the history of the sport, an accomplishment that dwarfs even his dominance in the ring. How anyone cannot give the man the respect he earned is beyond me.

To the people who are boxer fans...not boxing fans...not fighting Pacquiao and the rest of Arum's guys diminishes 17 years and 46 fights of excellence.

Great point in all divisions except 140lbs.

People did know that Hatton was not ''the champion'' at at 147lbs after the Collazo fight [where Hatton got a gift decision to set up a Mayweather fight].

In the other divisions Floyd generally did beat the best.

When Mayweather first went to 154lbs there was really no one that was great so you can't criticize him. He did beat Canelo who kind of filled that void.

What most of his critics should criticize is Mayweathers title defenses. Mayweather has been very selective on when he fight ''the best champion'' and on which titles he defends. He has vacated countless titles to prevent certain title defenses [like against Pacquiao, or Paul Williams] and he has very few title defenses in general, i believe only 14 total defenses across all divisions & most were pre-lightwelterweight divisions when Floyd fought for Top Rank.

Mayweather Jr.'s title defenses are;

9 of the WBC superfeatherweight title.

3 of the wbc lightweight title.

0 at lightwelterweight.

1 of the IBO welterweight title [not a world title so i dont count it].

1 of the WBC welterweight title, Floyd has vacated & won this title several times.

1 of the WBC & WBA superwelterweight title.

His haters are history revisionists. They are claiming that most of the guys he has faced and beaten are B and C level fighters.

when mosley was champ at 147 he called out floyd... floyd didnt aswer... mosley got beat, twice in a row, then floyd started calling out mosley, wtf?..

this topic been debated here in y/a for years, this is case closed... floyd already expressed his desire to retire healthy...recently he revealed how to achieve that..... just before sulaiman passed away, thst recent....

the truth of that can be weighed by who he fought and did not fought after coming back from retirement: bloated jmm, washed up mosley, no IQ ortiz, damaged good cotto, bum guerrero, drained alvarez, lowrisk c-level maidana, p4p king pacquiao, prime cotto, prime margarito... gosh, he even ducked glassjaw khan bc of speed

Mayweather is BY FAR the best boxer right now

that coward didnt fight prime cotto, and pacquiao

Often we hear arguments on Floyd selectively picking opponents. But considering this:

SUPER FEATHER: Diego Corales was easily the main rival champion. Mayweather destroyed him then left the division.

LIGHTWEIGHT: Castillo was the recognised champ at the time. Mayweather took him on straight away and took his title.

LIGHT WELTER: Tszyu beat Juhda to become recognised champ then Hatton beat Tszyu. Hatton was unbeaten and stepped up to welter. People say welter didn't go well for Hatton but who was to know that at the time? Hatton was naturally heavier than Mayweather and was shedding lots ofweight to make 140, so 147 should have been easy.

After losing his first fight at 147, Hatton returned to 140, so how bad was he really at 147? We dont know. Mayweather beat the undisputed champ of 140, albeit, at 147.

WELTERWEIGHT: Mosley was champ at 147. Forest beat him. Mayorga beat forest. Spinks beat Mayorga. Baldomir beat Spinks. Mayweather beat Baldomir. No question, Mayweather beat the recognised champ at 147.

LIGHT MIDDLE: Going into Alvarez fight, Alvarez was regarded as the main champion of 154. Both fighters put a belt on the line, Mayweather won.

People can argue who he has defended his titles against and the like, but are there not some exaggerations when people claim he keeps picking the easiest champions? He's sort of beaten the top guy at 5 different weights at different times.

Do some fans selectively not spot this?

If so, why?
