No, punching with weights is actually a detriment with it comes punching power. There is a place for strength training and the weight room, but punching power comes with timing, speed and dexterity as much as it does from strength training. The possibility for injury is very real and like the others I have to give a thumbs up to nightmare123, his advice of caution should be heeded.
No weight, Work on your technique, powerful legs, rotation of the hips and shoulder with a snap in your punch, more so than heavy weights.
yeah as nightmare123 said u are going to damage ur shoulder joints and your elbows joint and even ur wrist.. is better to do weight lifting and punching the bag with everything you got cause if u still doing that thing with those kind of weight withe past of the year u arms are going to get weaker.. and easly to break it its better to do it with a 5 lbs weight no problem
Punching with 20 lbs weights is bad. Its gonna damage your joints and will show in the future. Doing strength workouts is better such as body weight exercises and hitting the heavy bag with everything.
Does punching with weights make punches more powerful, I've been boxing for 6 years and I'm 5"8 176 pounds and for my size even at the new boxing gym I'm at they say I have natural power, but I want an even more powerful strike to put down my opponents out in seconds. so I currently I punch with 20 pound weights, effective or not?
