I like Sharif Bogere at +165 against Abril. I think Abril is being overrated just b/c he stunk out a drained Rios (and the fight was very close IMO, not a robbery).
Froch is a -205 favorite on my book. I think he'll win that fight, but I'm looking for a nice prop bet to put money, like Froch by decision. Hopefully I can get something like +150 for it.
I like Martinez, Garcia, and Peter Quillin all to win their upcoming fights. All are at least -600 favorites though.
I don't think Garcia deserves to be a 6-1 favorite over Jew-Duh, so maybe I'll throw a little on Zab (the fight is in Brooklyn). I still think Danny will win, but to me he isn't worth a bet at those odds.
I like Quillin big over Guerrero, possibly by stoppage. I'm gonna bet Martinez inside the distance against Murray, because at -1050 it does nothing for me.
Not sure what the odds on Donaire/Rigo are yet. I have a feeling Donaire will be a pretty big favorite, even though it's a great fight. If he's around or over -275 I'm betting Rigo.
Definitely betting on Ponce De Leon, b/c he'll be an underdog and I have a lot of confidence he'll beat Mares.
I generally stay away from boxing wagers except for sucker bets against individuals. The sport is way too fractured and too much of an opportunity for b.s. to occur for my taste. Here's my two cents about "gambling":
1. Don't get caught up in a high win %- The objective is to make money not be 100% correct in an imperfect world. It sounds great for marketing purposes, but it's bad on the pocket book if you aren't selling services.
2. Money management is how you win- Winning 50% of wagers should leave you fat & happy, 55% should make you a big timer. If it doesn't, your system is trash!
3. Never confuse luck with skill.- Don't think watching a few fights (in this case) and placing a bet makes for an educated decision. See Bernie Ebbers
4. Never break a bookie, brokerage (both commodity & equity) or insurance co- They'll try every trick known to man to invalidate your action (often getting away with it) and if that doesn't work they'll go out of business. Either way you end up with nothing or at best cents on the dollar.
5. Risk- If you don't know all components of it nothing, and I mean NOTHING, can save you over time. See Dick Fuld
Most of those fights you mentioned most likely wont yield good enough odds to bet on. You could drop some money on Thurman for a guaranteed win, hes still up n coming and being built into a superstar so even if somehow he lost a decision he would get it anyways, you don't have to worry about a robbery in his direction. If you want to make some good money put a big bet on Thurman to win, half that bet on Thurman by knockout under 7, and throw a few bucks on the 6th round. Zaveck is 34 years old, has not fought in almost a year and has shown considerable wear in his last few. Perfect fight to bet on but you have to pick a round, you should be pretty comfortable in putting a big bet on Thurman by knockout, but hes fighting a guy thats never been stopped so....... there is a slight risk but very slight.
A fight were you might make some good money betting the underdog is Alverado vs Rios, this is going to a decision and Alverado is going to win (even if he loses he will get the decision so they can make the third fight) but I think he will win the decision regardless. Alverado was knocked out in their first fight but not before dominating Rios and then running out of gas. He will box more this fight and take the decision.
If you look at my record for predicting the out come on fights you will see that I am at 90% .Not bragging but that is really good considering all the bad judging. Letterman's daughter should be investigated for screwing Scott over last weekend. Any way I have looked over your list and I am not betting on any of these fights. I will give you my opinion on some of them but to be honest with you I have never seen some of these guys fight.
1.Cloud beats Hopkins
2.Bradley wins easy
3.Thurman wins easy.
4.Vazquez beats Burns in a great fight.
5. Carson Jones wins easy.
6. Bogere in a easy fight.
Ok I repeat I am not betting on any of these fights but I can tell you two sure wins.
1. Bradley
2. Thurman
Sorry it is really hard to give you good pick when I have not set down and looked at the whole picture. But if you have a few dollars to invest these two fighters I just gave you are two sure winners. The Hopkins fight is going to be real ugly with Hopkins falling to the canvas low punches you name it but Cloud will pull this fight out.I am going to look at a couple of these guys and give you at least two more sure picks.
In the next couple of weeks................
Bogere beats Abril
Hopkins beats Cloud
Thruman beats Zavek
Carson Jones beats Purdey
Bradley beats Provodnikov
Burns beats Vazquez
