Price just got stopped by Thompson again!! What now?

Should he retire?

Price was a hype job after all. And I agree with Fury big and stiff! He lacks boxing skills, he KO'd a load of fat bums which is okay on your way up. But he certainly lacks quality. He was boxing like an amateur, running away, scrapping, all over the place, Stiff, chinny, gassed early on.

He hasn't got what it takes to be world class. But then neither does Fury.

What now? If Price decides to continue (which I think he will) then it would be a good idea to get Barry Mcguigan in his training camp to teach him some lateral movement. There is little fluidity in Prices work. It's as if he's been sat still in a dressing room that's a fridge prior to the fight. He ran out of gas very early in the fight, which is the main reason why there were so many unanswered punches that culminated in the stoppage.

How much energy was lost because of nerves I cannot tell. He punched himself out going for the KO in the second round which I was shocked at. Even though these are massive guys detonating fist bombs, I was surprised at how much this depleted Price. I don't know how much roadwork he's been doing. Tony Thompson is no mug though and I thought that it was a big mistake to have an immediate rematch with him.

I don't know how good Lennox Lewis is as a trainer and we should not judge him on this performance. However, enhancing Price by adopting a fight Lewis style ethos (not saying this IS the case but I am inclined to believe it) won't do him any favours. Lewis is Lewis and Price is Price and Price needs that lead hand higher and tighter, pawing with it as a range finder in his rhythmic pattern will get him ko'd by someone who is faster than Thompson at and near top level.

Stylistically Price needs more adding to him. Not more of the same. A well rounded trainer who is used to training guys of all different styles and weight classes would be good for Price. There were opportunities for Price to tie up Thompson. Despite the heavy punishment he was taking, had he the knowledge I believe he would of done so. Price is a big guy with a big punch, but at top level(s) at present his style is too textbook stand up ABAish for the professional sport.

Back to the training camp for Price. I think he has been pushed too much too far by his handlers. Thompson on the other hand has enhanced his position as America's number one heavyweight with the win and may be in for another go at any of the world titles in the division even at his advanced age. A puncher's punch as they say is the last to go for aging warriors.

A fight versus David Haye, if the Haymaker gets past another giant heavyweight pretender Tyson Fury, may be in order to determine a viable challenger for the Klitschkos, especially Vitali.

If Haye loses, I think Thompson-Fury will be a natural.

Thompson is not hell shot whatever that means. His two recent year losses have all come against Wladdy Klitschko and he has just three defeats counting the decision loss he incurred very early in his pro career.

You know what I think it's down to, I reckon that no-ones ever challenged him in sparring and just tried to survive because of his previous reputation so when someone comes back at him he's surprised and can't take it even with his amateur experience.

The first one showed me he could have a bad chin but then I thought that it maybe could be down his giant heavy body crashing down on the canvas. But looking at this knockout it looks like the willingness just isn't there and he is a bit of p*ssy. But I have only seen the knockout.

And also I think we should be giving Thompson a little more credit because he deserves it, he beat someone who was touted as being the best HW prospect TWICE even though it turns out Price is a hype job.

as tony thompson said him self price wasn't ready mentally ,he looked nervous before the fight and he ran out of gas by the 5th very similar to foreman vs Ali .

i think price burnt up to much nervous energy before the fight ,he should of had a warm up fight first to get some confidence back instead of going straight back in with thompson .

the best part of the night was thompson interview with box nation after the fight where he says his wife will need a wheelchair and a hip replacement after he's done with her ...long training camp

Price has Fought to much low level opposition such as harrison and Skelton to improve himself of a boxer, much the same problem A.harrison had in his career. He needed to take a step up in class maybe 3 fights ago as at 30 years old he should be in his prime now. He had potential to be great but his opponents let him down. He should retire if he wants to be world champ as that's not gonna happen. At best he is a decent domestic heavyweight

For Thompson, any top Heavyweight not names Klitschko...Haye, Pulev, Adamek, or Wilder would be good.

Price should fight Seth Mitchell.

We have the technology, we can rebuild him.

Price v2.0. The HW division has been put on notice.

lmao.....price is a joke....he could have won if he changed his style....missed the fight though...forgot it was tonight.

the outcome was never in question

Should he retire?
