In this forum highly overrated, especially before last week's rematch. I never quite understood why the first fight generated so much buzz for Rios here after his first bout when it was painfully obvious Alvarado, who's not exactly destined for greatness, could have walked away with a decision if he boxed.
Rios is a mentally weak athlete with a limited skill set and hides it all behind a Me Man, Me Tough ring persona. Bob Arum fast tracking that kid (well fast for Bob) confirms the obvious, he's got a short shelf life and when it goes bad it's going to be a train-wreck both in and out of the ring.
DISAGREE. Brandon "Bam Bam" Rios is one of the best active boxers
in the world today. Yes, he did lose the re-match to Mike Alvarado there
on HBO's World Championship Boxing however, that doesn't mean that
he's finished. Brandon Rios was willing & able to fight Yuriorkis Gamboa
last year, Yuriorkis Gamboa backed out of the fight didn't want any part
of Brandon Rios, he did get a TKO victory over Mike Alvarado and he has
shown in the past that he's got a big heart with his comeback wins in pro
boxing. He will be back he just needs to improve on a few fundamentals I
wouldn't write Brandon Rios off just yet he will be a champion again soon.

Yes he is very overrated, and i knew that from when Abril schooled him, all the top fighters would beat him, Alvarado claimed he boxed him but did usually get in scraps with him and beat him. That shows a good boxer will make him look silly
Boxrec.com rates him #5 at 140 behind Peterson, Garcia, Matthysse, and Alvarado. I agree with that. I honestly believe Khan is better also. Offensively, he can crack. In a slugfest that's great because he has a great chin and heart...BUT his lack of skill showed against Abril and Alvarado. He gets hit was too much...which may make him entertaining, but may shorten his career. He is properly rated. Btw, Broner would beat the breaks off of him.
Overrated? Maybe in this forum but I think everybody outside of Yahoo Answers knows where the guy stands. I feel like he can put up a good fight with anybody in the talent filled 140lb division.
He's still young and has time to work on his fundamentals. With the right trainer he could go far.
if i'm being honest i think he's overrated.he couldn't walk alverado down no matter how hard he tried.i think anyone who can box with a decent chin will beat him
People like him for his style and inside fighting. But, he did lose recently and showed that he can be hit quite easily. If Rios were to face top fighters in the world, he'd get out-classed. Your thoughts?
