If you've got shorter arms, can't take a beating, or just prefer to move around more, the more popular "American style" is your thing. Bobbing the head and constant footwork make you a harder target. Hunching the shoulders and keeping the elbows bent and up guard the head from hits. It makes it easier to hit fast and string together bigger combos. But the punches lack most of the power you can get from standing up straight.
If you wanna learn euro style, you'll never find a coach though. I fought two years, had a record of 22-2 with 17 by way of KO and my coach yelled at me for not moving around enough every day... You take a lot of punishment but you can end a fight fast if you can deliver the powerful hits that standing tall can allow. Oh, and if you have the aptitude, try to learn to fight left handed (southpaw). Switching right to left in the middle of a fight is a fantastic way to throw your opponent off and get a monster punch to connect when they aren't expecting it. Half of my fights, I won by doing this...

Make sure your jabs and straight rights are as straight as the wall in your home. this works. also work on your running a lot and skipping. extend your shoulders when you punch as much as possible but in a safe controlled manner.
Does anybody know somebody on youtube who has good boxing videos I can learn from. If not, any websites that are useful?
Also, what are the some of the most important aspects of boxing that I should really learn. Ex. footwork, head movement, combos etc.
