Prime vs. Prime I could see this fight going either way.
People often compare Tyson to Joe Frazier due to their similar size and peek a boo stance, because of these similarities many assume a Tyson-Foreman fight would go the same way as Foreman-Frazier, but what people fail to realize those were the only things that Tyson and Frazier had in common. They were more different than they were similar. Tyson was a very fast starter while Frazier was a notoriously slow starter. Tyson was also much faster, better defensively and more of a two handed puncher.
I can see Tyson winning many of the early rounds ducking and slipping many of Foreman's shots and effectively countering, maybe even flooring Foreman once, but he isn't going to run through Foreman in a few rounds he was too tough and too strong. The middle rounds would probably go in Foreman's favor as he would probably land more as Tyson slows down and tries to get more inside. Tyson was known to get frustrated and abandon his skills if a fight went past a few rounds, but if were talking about the post Douglas version of Tyson that fought Razor Ruddock this would be a fight to the end.
I see it as either a close decision victory for Tyson or Foreman by a late TKO. I think that version of Tyson was just determined to reclaim his throne and wouldn't go down without a fight, but at the same time, how many can go the distance with Big George?
What a great question, Matt.
I pick Tyson to win via UD RD 15 here. Foreman always had stamina problem, but so was Tyson. I believe this fight will be filled with hard punches, but both fighters are very tough in their prime, and none would go down.
In Rounds 1-9, Tyson would use his speed as his advantage and he would successfully duck a lot of Foreman's punches and nailed with his own hard punches.
By Round 10, I think Tyson would eventually manage to knock down the exhausted Foreman to the mat twice, but Foreman would get up.
Starting Round 11, Tyson starting to feel exhausted also, so Foreman won Round 12-14. In Round 15, Tyson would make a big comeback and try to finish off Foreman, but Foreman would stay on his feet and go to distances.
A very hard one. Ima have to go with Foreman by KO, Tyson is the much more skilled boxer and has much better defense and faster than Foreman, but I just cant see this fight going the distance, impossible this fight goes past 11. And I think Foreman has the much better chin.
Foreman's weakness which is his stamina wont be an issue in this fight, this will be a slug fest and maybe whoever takes the other's punches better wins this fight. Tyson wont take Foreman's punches. A repeat of Foreman-Frazier maybe? cause Frazier too had better defense and was faster, arguably had better punch resistance than Tyson
Great question Matt! The older version of Foreman actually wanted a fight with Tyson and he wasn't kidding either believing he could beat him too. Foreman early in his career was not the guy you wanted to stand in front of and punch with because you would get knocked out. Mike Tyson looked unbeatable early in his career winning most of his fights by early rounds knockouts using great speed and power. He was very intimidating and menacing too as most of his opponents were already defeated before they ever got in the ring with him. Everybody knows what happened to the great Joe Frazier when he fought Foreman who is roughly the same size and with the same reach as Tyson and I am of the thought that Foreman would do much the same vs Tyson. It would be a trilling and short fight with both men coming out looking to end matters quickly. Tyson would land some big shots but Foreman wouldn't go down and would respond with those big power shots of his sending Iron Mike down several times before the referee mercifully stops the fight.
Foreman W TKO6
Foreman would beat tyson at his own game. Pure intimidation to the point where tyson knows he has lost before the first bell has even been sounded. And from that point on Tyson would be cannon fodder and afterwards would say what almost all of Big George's victims said, "I thought I could win, I don't know what happened to me."
Big George would have slaughtered Tyson. Mike would have barreled in and George would have flattened him with a right uppercut. He lifted Frazier off the ground with that punch and Mike was easier to hit than Joe.
No contest.
prime vs prime ~ foreman would demolish tyson.
if they had met in the early to mid '90s (despite many believing that iron mike ducked big george), i see tyson winning a ud.
George Forman, Forman has knocked out way better fighters than Mike has, Joe Frazier, ken Norton
Most likely George Forman unless mike try's to bite his ear off
Foreman was more skilled..Tyson had one punch
Both fearsome punchers, 15 rounds.
I think no one of the two. It seems to me that both are retired and out of shape.
