I sat in row 12 for that fight and I'll NEVER forget the frightened look on Spinks' face and I felt for him. It reminded me of a little boy being forced to fight a bully or hiding in the school building because someone is waiting outside to kick his azz.
TV cameras don't do it any justice but I think many people felt for Spinks before, during and after the fight. He's nice guy............
..........and yes, Mike DID want to hurt him. If you had ANY idea of the BULL$#!T Mike was going through, you'd understand why. Robin and her mother were square up his azz. During a press conference, he went to the rest room and Robin and her mother were waiting outside for him. Real talk.
I remember that interview too... His manager was telling him that Mike Tyson was currently in his dressing room, punching holes into the walls!
Obviously, his behavior and comportment before the fight said it all---he deathly dreaded Iron Mike! Spinks was literally shaking on his boots!
Mike was intimidating indeed
he would have beaten any of the Klitschkos and he would have beaten Clay too. only one i see givin Mike any problems would be George Foreman
I am looking for an interview where Spinks speaks on fighting Mike Tyson. He says he is the first person he was ever in the ring with where he felt the other guy was really trying to hurt him. I remember seeing it on youtube but can't find it now. Can anyone help?
