i think showtime have made a massive mistake signing floyd for 6 fights ,it's because you don't get to see to much of floyd in the ring that he is so popular if you see him every 5/6 months then it's not so special any more
Irish Pub nailed it :)
Anyway, there are other opponents that can easily help make at least a million buys... Guerrero is an absolute nobody, if it wasn't for his Berto win, where would he be now? -_- Reason Floyd choose Guerrero might have been to test himself and his dad as team, you know, an easy fight just to make sure everything is going nice. Now that Floyd knows that his new adition to the money team made wonders, he will hopefully choose more $$$ guys now.
The showtime officials already spoke out about this, They have exceeded the 1 million pay per view buys and are still tallying up the numbers. this is what was expected and they are happy with the numbers
initially there was speculation of the fight doing less than 1 mil buys, but a couple of days ago steven espinoza showtime prez confirmed it had done over a 1 mil buys
Thats not bad man,il be happy the day 870,000 people pay to see me fight lol.
Despite two weeks passing the fight..Showtime is refusing to release the official ppv sales..but inside sources are saying that the fight had a DISMAL 870,000 ppv buys..Higher-up at showtime are fuming at the numbers considering they spent over $55million on the fight and needed at least 1.1 million buys to break even.
To all those that said this did over a million, let's be real...There was nothing about this promotion, this opponent..or the fight night buzz that said this was a million dollar PPV.
Floyd vs. JMM barely did over a million and that fight had way more buzz and promotion than this one
HBO has got to be giggling like little girls right now in anticipation of the official numbers.
what do you guys think?
