On the upside; Wladimir is 1 of the longest raining heavyweights ever and he has beat some good opposition. His last 3 fights were all against undefeated top contenders/champions, his last 9 fights have all been against good fighters in their prime.
He beat several all time greats including David Haye, Ruslan Chagaev, Byrd & Brewster. Few of these men are hall of famers, but the Hall of Fame has Fame as the keyword, not Hall of Greats. Silvester Stalone & Gatti are in the Hall of Fame but they were never the best boxers in any division.
Fame is 1 thing, great is another. Wladimir is great, he has broken several title defense records with some belts.
On the downside; the 4 best heavyweights the last 10 years have been Wladimir, Vitali, Nikolai Valuev & Lennox Lewis.
The only ones who have fought each other are Vitali & Lennox; Lennox won.
Valuev almost broke Rockys undefeated streak, sure he lost to Ruslan who Wladimir beat but that's like people in the 70's saying ''Foreman beat Frazier who beat Ali so Foreman & Ali shouldn't fight, Foreman is obviously greater and would win''.
In conclusion; Wladimir & only Wladimir will retire a top 10 ATG heavyweight
Look, their both great fighters and sure, the heavyweight division is the weakest it has ever been but what they have accomplished os definitely something to admire. They will both make the Hall of Fame but everyone knows they will never make a top 10, let alone, top 25 heavyweight fighters of all time due to the competition they faced and its not their fault nobody is at their level. Look at Mayweather. He has a great resume, it far eclipses the Kiltschko's, but there in no-one on his level. People like the Sugar Rays aren't in his era and we won't know how high his ceiling because nobody is on that level except him amd he may even surpass it. The Klitschkos face the same problem. They have no one to test themselves against and they are not to blame. Their greatness suffers and they can't do anything about it. Plus, any knowledgeable boxing expert knows the Kiltschkos can't break top 250 fighters of all time. The competition isn't there.
well im not too crazy about them but i wouldn't disrespect them because of a record and say they haven't fought anybody just because they haven't got in the ring with Ali .. Ali and george foreman & prime larry holmes are not here for them to fight they can only fight people who are there its not really their fault. I dont think its fair to just say they're not s*** because of it. If you fight everyone with legs from your era and dominate for the most part without doing coward stuff like being scared of certain people while they are in their primes and waiting on purpose for them to be past their primes or avoid them forever on purpose & dominate for the most part of that era then you're a Great of your era at least. Great of all time is another story.
Neither of them are all time greats.
Like you say, who have they beaten? They have not beaten one world class heavyweight between them. The nearest they have got is Wladimir beating David Haye who is a world class cruiserweight.
Calling them all time greats is pathetic. Look at the boxers they have faced
Vitali:
Beat by Bird
Beat by Lewis
Kirk Johnson
Cory Sanders
Danny Williams
Samuel Peter
Chris Arreola
Albert Sosnowski
Tomasz Adamek
Derek Chisora
Maunel Charr
Wladimir:
Beat by Purrity
Beat by Brewster
Beat by Sanders
Barrett
Byrd
McCline
Mercer
Austin
Mormeck
Changaev
Chambers
Peter
Haye
Wach
Pianeta
Ibragimov
Povetkin
Anyone who seriously thinks those are the records of all time greats is deluded. It doesn't matter that there have been no heavyweight greats in their era, you can't just call them all time greats by default
People question Prince Naseem's record, Lennox Lewis' record, Joe Calzaghe's record, all of whom fought better opposition that the Klitschko's have.
I look at it like this..
You might not be able to call them great by their achievements but I think they'd make for competitive fights against established great fighters. And despite the weak era, it's still noteable that they have been ontop for so long as a brother act.
Certainly not GOAT.
I was gonna say you can't be serious. but you're right. I thought you were gonna say they are the best hwavyweights.
It kills me when people say the Klitscho brothers are the best heavyweights theres ever been, to be the greatest you have to beat the high caliber opposition, everyone knows the heavyweight division Is currently the weakest It's ever been. Who did Vitali or Wladimir beat? Vitali got got tko'ed by an over the hill Lennox and quit against Byrd &Wladimir lost to a journeyman with a record of 24-13 and has been knocked down like four times In one fight. They aren't as great as Joe Louis, Muhammad Ali, George Foreman, Larry Holmes or Sonny liston those are true GREATS they actually beat people. The Klitscho's era now Is as weak as Tyson's when he was fighting, they haven't fough anybody but bums and they are the best of all times??? None of the boxing experts have them In the top ten, please comment.
