Per Wikipedia, Khan and Ortiz had met in the amateurs with Khan winning by stoppage.
In a fight now, I would favor Khan over Ortiz simply because Khan has already shown recovery from his back-to-back losses to Lamont Peterson and Danny Garcia with his wins over Carlos Molina and Julio Diaz. On the other hand, Ortiz has remained inactive for the past more than one year now following back-to-back stoppage losses to Floyd Mayweather and Josesito Lopez. We don't know his state of mind and readiness coming back from those crushing, humiliating losses.
I think Ortiz would also be at a disadvantage against Khan before his defeat to Mayweather because he quit against Marcos Maidana whom Khan defeated in a slambang affair.
Khan wins by decision over Ortiz, pre and post-Floyd.
I don't think the Mayweather loss matters.
Ortiz is a quitter, but he has a good chin. Khan has a horrible chin, but he's got a bunch of heart.
Ortiz has always got to opponents. Besides Mayweather and Josesito Lopez, he's knocked down every opponent he's faced.
Mayweather has a good chin and great defense. Lopez is a very tough dude. Both got hit clean by Ortiz.
So it's like I said, Ortiz will always land clean and do good work. His chin is good, and I don't think Khan can hurt him. Ortiz is also MUCH bigger, he started his career at 140lb and now he seems like a big 154lb.
Eventually Ortiz would land hard and KTFO out of Khan. If Khan can get hurt and stopped by Garcia, imagine what would happen if Ortiz landed in a legit fashion against him...
For the record, I'd love to see this fight. Not really now, but in the time frame you proposed, it most definitely would've been great.
Khan Ortiz will implode by the 3rd round.
amir khan. beacuse Ortiz would have been DQ
Who wins and how big do you guys think this fight wouldve been before Ortiz lost to Mayweather?
