Karate is lame and very useless when it comes to boxing actually it is much better to have no Karate background because it is hard to break horrible habits karate gives for any fighting even street fighting. Basically you wasted a lot of time typing a bunch of garbage that no one much will care to even bother read-if you are joining a gym JOIN for Gods sake like every other boxer that has ever lived and learn the basics of boxing because every one does start at zero some just have talant and natural ability, it sure seems you have little or no ability and or confidence-this can be over come by learning the fundamentals of boxing from a knowledgeable boxing trainer-Good luck!
...Listen.... I thought I was tough **** before I joined my boxing gym. First off boxing is not about raw power, dont know where you heard that but ok. Street fighting will just get you put on your *** if u try that against a trained boxer. And karate is worthless for boxing sorry. Sorry but youve proven yourself from this comment to be even more begginer than a begginer an extremely ignorant. You should still join a boxing gym but change your attitude first. The want to impress your coach should not be your gaol it sohuld be to progress.
hmm i'm sorry but why shouldn't you be treated as a beginner if you are one in boxing? when i first joined a boxing gym i had taekwondo and kickboxing experience but it absolutely meant nothing. I'd say just trust your coach ,if he sees you can do well then he'll decide how to treat you. You need to learn the basics of boxing which is a different style of fighting so its best to not care so much about the label of beginner and just focus on learning what you need to learn. On the bright side your background means you can probably handle tough training well.. Good luck :)
Street fights are lame and unimpressive so is karate just go through basic training because u have no idea what youre doing
Here's the thing; I already have training. I don't want to be treated like I know nothing, because then I'd have to waste my time doing drills, and it would be ages till I have my first match, and all that jazz. I don't want to be treated like I have no experience.
I've gotten in more street fights than I can remember (literally more than I can remember), but I don't have any proof that I actually got in a street fight. I spar with my bros, but then again, I don't have proof. I practice Karate, and I DO have proof, but flaunting Karate doesn't really work well. Karate has a reputation for focusing on timing, speed, precision; basically everything besides raw power. Boxers (a good 95% of them) think that all that is unimportant, and raw power is the only thing that's important.
Again, when it came to street fights, I have a perfect match record, I either won, or the fight got broken up. When sparring with my bros, perfect match record (except for this one time where it was a 3v1 and I let one of them grab me (and I have absolutely NO grappling experience)). When I sparred in Karate class, there was nobody keeping score, but I'd say I won every session of sparring. What's a real downer is that I can't use this as a citation.
My plan is to impress the teachers as much as I can. When they ask me to hit a speed bag, I don't just hit the speed bag; I sing a song too. When they ask me to hit the punching bag, I don't just hit the punching bag; I send it flying. When they ask me to do 10 pushups, I do 20.
What would you do, to try to impress the teachers there? ^^What I said above is my only idea.
