Long story short, Joe Frazier would break Walt Frazier in half in much the way he broke Bob Foster. In fact, surprisingly, there isn't much difference in size between Foster and Walt Frazier. Frazier would be considered a bit small by today's basketball standards. At 6'4"/200 lbs. He would take the first two rounds from Joe. That's all he gets and that's stretching it.
Walt would never be able to keep Joe off of him. Even if you could teach him to box, there isn't much he could do against Smokin Joe. Giving him all that I can as a boxer, Walt would have a decent jab and maybe even a straight right. You can forget the straight right because, once Joe gets past the jab --and he will-- the right hand is gobbled up by the chest to chest warfare that Joe would wrought upon Walt.
Backed into a corner, Walt has no choice but to fight. He has heart but heart can't punch back. Even if it could, it wouldn't be enough to slow down Hurricane Joe. Shades of Bob Foster.
Frazier by KO in 3
Um, Joe Frazier, that is.
Cool question Z! Smoking Joe vs Clyde! Joe always came right at you but Walt had that great defense and was very cool and clever so who would win this titantic battle of the Frazier's? Smoking Joe would win the early rounds but Walt Frazier would steal some latter rounds to take the split decision victory.
Hahaha, a battle of the 2 great athletes named Frazier. Of course, Joe would win, hands down. Clyde ain't a boxer though he's a superb athlete in his own right. He'd be in for a lot of pain and trouble. ;)
joe frazier within three rounds.
In 1970, Joe Frazier unified the title against Jimmy Ellis, a year before FOTC. IN 1970 Walt Frazier won his first NBA title with the Knicks. Walt was known for his great defense and cool, and was nicknamed Clyde.Joe had that bob-and-weave style and was called Smokin' Joe.Who would win this battle? Could Walt's cool overcome Joe's aggressive stance?
