One thing most will agree on is that there are two likely outcomes, Tyson early or Frazier late. I doubt that it would go any other way than one of those two scenarios.
Either Mike Tyson's power, speed and relentless ferocity overwhelm Frazier who was a slow starter, or Frazier rides the early storm and as Tyson tires late, which he usually did, Frazier comes on strong to KO him. Tyson was a beast early on but would fade and lose heart if an opponent was still in there swinging past the mid rounds. Frazier started slow usually but was like a tank, getting stronger and stronger as the rounds went on, tough and relentless too walking through combinations if need be to land his left hook.
I could just as easily pick either one so I will leave this one undecided, I think your pick about sums it up. Frazier was very brave, look at the way he got up six times against Foreman in the first fight so could take Tyson out providing he got past the very dangerous first few rounds.
Tyson had a cast iron jaw and Frazier didn't have the punching power to rattle him. Tyson was too fast, had superior head movement and punching power and could take more punishment than Joe could. Love both fighters but a prime Mike Tyson is near unbeatable by anyone in heavyweight history except Ali.
Hello.I would go with Joe Frazier.Although Tyson had all the muscular power Frazier was a warrior.Always kept his head low and bobbed and weaved.A hard man to hit.Yes a Tyson at 21 was formidable.Made mince meat of Larry Holmes.
That said i feel Frazier was the smarter man.So Frazier perhaps on points.
I think Tyson should win this early. However if Joe could go into the later rounds i give him a chance. He could go 15 solid rounds. Tyson is spent by the end of 12 rounds. Tyson has underrated boxing skills. In his early days he used the jab had good defense and could hit with either hand. Joe has more determination and fought better opponents. I do not think that Tyson would win like he did against Marvis however.
Joe Frazier would win.
Tyson was a hard hitter though down the stretch lost to Buster Douglass, Evander Holifield batters him twice, then Lennox Lewis put it on him.
You guys are right mike tyson would kick *** he's to tough for joe even though joe was really tough mike Tyson's iron fists would destroy him you simply cannot touch tyson when he has all theis speed the only guy that could match up with tyson is Ali
Tyson would beat Joe, just like when Tyson beat Joe's son.
Anywho, you need more then a left hook to beat Mike. A right uppercut is what you need and joe don't have it. You also need a good jab.
A boxer with a R uppercut can beat Tyson - Tyson could beat Frazier and Frazier's style could beat a boxer. Like paper rock scissors.
I admire Joe Frazier on a personal level, maybe more than any other heavyweight. I think he was about as mentally tough as a man can be. But I think mike would beat him. He would just overpower him early. Joe would have lasted longer than his son, but like with Foreman, the ref would be forced to stop it with Joe on his feet, but beaten.
Thats a great comparison i think tyson would win by tko in round 7 it would definitely be a match of raw power
Frazier would stand toe to toe with Tyson and beat him down. Frasier would knock out Tyson or Tyson would quit on his stool.
primes.
Tyson, even without the biting the man was amazing in the ring.
I'm sorry, but in his prime that uppercut was indefensible. It's like he brought it up from the depths of hell
Mike
