ALL athletes today use protein mix. Don't feel weird.
Heck, Bruce Lee drank protein shakes. This was before muscle mix and GNC were ever a thing. He would just put meat and other crap in a blender and mix it up. You should consider yourself lucky that you don't have to put as much work in!
Don't listen to these old school thinking nerds.
Try ISO-100 or Hydrowhey. Both are lactose free, carb free, fat free and sugar free. Expensive but great for absorption, low carb/calorie and won't hurt stomach like old lactose based proteins.
Remember, protein shake is a "supplement." That means, it "supplements" your whole foods diet. Eat clean and use protein shakes as a supplement to your diet.
I don't know your goals training, so I can't give you advice on when to take protein/how much, etc.
Experiement and do research online. Email anytime on diet, supps/vitamins, etc. Glad to help.
*whoever voted this down is a phucking moron and not a boxer like me. don't listen to them,
I would advise you to avoid it. Unless it is FDA approved, which none of them are, they can pretty much put anything they want in their secret mix. I know a trainer that started and saw great results rapidly, but he also got a stomach ulcer after the first week. Remember: Always eat within 30 mins of your workout. This yields 100% growth, within an hour drops that to about 66%, 2 hours and you're about 33% and after that you didn't really gain at all. Make sure to eat protein rich foods while doing this. Egg whites are ideal and a staple in my diet. High in protein, low in fat, and low in calories. Good luck, and get big!
I have never really taken protein mix until recently. I just never saw the point in it. I always felt like protein mix was a short cut and that I wanted to gain muscle the natural way (excercising). But now I feel I should give it a try. Is it something you would recommend, or would you advise me to just stick to excercising?
