Canelo didn't start till he was 16
My dad has a boxing team and he has a kid who started at 16 and won the junior Olympics when he was 17 and 18. If you learn from good trainers and got some skull. You can start whenever you want.
Where I live, you can't enter a authentic boxing gym until your 16. Sadly I have to wait a year. But you should be practicing even though your only 16. Build up some muscle, exepcially roadwork. I'm not an official member of a boxing gym, and because of my lazy self, I didn't work on my roadwork this whole summer! And I find my self unable to go more then 12mins straight. (My goal is 20). So I guess a tip I can offer to a young boxer such as you and myself, is to practice running and breathing. 16 Is the best age possible. Not to young, nor old.
No. This is actually a good age to start. Many times when kids start in the pre teen years they are sick of boxing and training by the time they are 18 19 years of age. Your are in puberty at this time and you are not fully grown or fully mature. I do not know what your future is if you plan on just fighting amateur or you plan on turning pro. Either one you must be consistent with your training. You must be dedicated to a 4 to 5 days of steady workouts. The amateurs will be like stepping into the water to see how well you do and to see how good you are. This is an acid test. You make not like it. The fight is the easy part. The full time of training and dedication is the part many cannot endure. I wish you well and I hope are successful.
Hell naw bro! I'm 18 and I'm still considered young a boxer. Some guys don't start till their mid 20's!
If you have natural skill,60 is not too late.
