No, I don't believe for one second that he's a changed man. But he needs the public to believe that in order to distance himself from his woman beating past. He was talking a lot of trash about Guerrero before their fight and even accused him of exploiting his wife's cancer. Only a scumbag would say something like that especially considering that Guerrero put his boxing career on hold in order to care for his wife and children. But then again, Mayweather wouldn't know anything about being a real man outside the ring. After all, he beat the mother of his children as they watched and supposedly threatened to kill her as well. It's not until Ruben called him out on his woman beating that he toned down the trash talking. So no, I don't believe that he's suddenly transformed into a "nice guy". He just realizes that having his opponent remind the public that he's a woman beater is bad for his image.
For the record: I also don't buy the claim that Mayweather just acts like a prick in public in order to sell fights, because only a sociopath would think beating up on a woman and going to prison is somehow good for your boxing career. Most of that behavior seems to stem from his insecurities. For instance, he beat the mother of his children after he discovered she was seeing someone. And he's constantly accusing boxing writers, commentators, and fans of conspiring against him, and he surrounds himself with all these yes-men who only cling to him because of his money.
People normally mellow with age and life-changing experiences, especially the humbling ones. Floyd is no exception. I think Floyd is a naturally nice and kind person but his profession requires that he project a mean persona. Other greats went through that uncomfortable phase like Johnson, Robinson, Ali even Leonard and Duran and Tyson.
Yes. This may be due to his time in prison. Ever since his release he has been more quiet. He still talks a bit of trash before his fights but this time he was more respectful than the opposition. It is usually the other way around.
i think someone else stated this... deep down, floyd is a good person. it's just that he puts on this front so that people will believe he's not in order to publicise fights. i also think that prison might have changed him... hey we're not all perfect. we all make mistakes in life and floyd is no different
don't believe it... he is a convicted lady beater...
he still has the devil inside...
or maybe he is still in-checking for his jail provisions...
A Zebra can not change it's strips.
.
He's become respectful and kind of a nice guy? what the hell
