Is Guillermo Rigondeaux fighter of the year?

Agbeko was not "viciously robbed by the judges" against Mares. The first fight was highly controversial because of the incompetence of the referee who allowed Mares to get away with multiple low blows, but the rematch was a convincing win by Mares.

At any rate, it's difficult to predict which fighter will get the nod this year because different writers have different criteria, not to mention politics are involved. I think purists may favor Rigo, Floyd may get the nod based on his popularity and p4p champ status, while those who prefer drama may give the edge to Bradley for his performance against Ruslan. Stevenson definitely deserves consideration, as does Mikey Garcia and Danny Garcia. GGG deserves honorable mention based on his activity and dominance, but he lacks a signature win. Another guy that deserves honorable mention is Juan Francisco Estrada for his wins over unified champ Viloria (who was on one of the hottest streaks in boxing), and for defeating highly rated Melindo.

My thoughts are you're an idiot.

Mares beat Agbeko 2 times clearly.

Second rigondeaux is overrated & mikey garcia deserves fighter of the year. Beat 3 quality opponents. 2 of them being champions (Orlando Salido & Roman Martinez) & a very game former Champion Juan Manuel Lopez.

I think Floyd is fighter of the year. I have Mikey Garcia along with him, Stevenson had a good year as well.

This year has been Floyd though. He broke records, came back after a prison term and a 1 year layoff and looked phenomenal at age 36. World demanded he fight Alvarez and he did, he completely outclassed him.

Mikey Garcia is a great fighter, dominating every opponent put in front of him.

Stevenson, out of nowhere, became Light Heavyweight champion with a one punch knock out and has dominated in every defense. He's bringing the Light Heavyweight division to the top as well as Kovalev.

I like you list. I think Floyd is a front runner, with Rigondeaux and Mikey Garcia slightly trailing. Stevenson in 4th...

Never in a million year is Floyd the fighter of the year. Guerrero and Alvarez? Average at best.

Rigo have beaten much better opponents than Floyd this year, but my personal choice would be Mikey Garcia. 2 world titles in two divisions, in one year. Its a no contest for me.

He's in the argument.

Two huge wins this year. One against a guy that was number 4 or 5 pound for pound and a shut out against Agbeko who was viciously robbed by the judges in his match against Abner Mares.

Other contenders are Floyd GGG, Stevenson and Timothy Bradley(If you count the Provodnikov victory as legitimate)
