Is Amir Khan's chin under rated?

No, he just hasn't got a very good chin, although I take your point about withstanding Maidana's punches, he also stayed up vs Peterson for 12 rounds and so I can see where the question comes from. But I think that's more about him having a big heart than a good chin and his opponent not being clinical enough. When Garcia had him hurt he was superb with the finish, taking his time & picking the shots making sure they were landing and that's why he went down multiple times because despite Khan's will to fight on, he just couldn't take the punches whereas Maidana was just throwing wildly at Khan and missing the target lots of the time. Khan ran away both times but Garcia cut the ring off and was patient, Maidan burned himself out trying to end Khan and then the punches weren't as powerful when they did land, as they would have been if he was patient.

I'd just like to add that Amir Khan's got nothing for Mayweather, he shouldn't even be fighting him to be honest but as he's the most popular fighter we have over here at 147, he gets the nod because he'd sell the most tickets and I think Floyd wants to come here before he hangs up his gloves. I see Mayweather stopping Khan in the exact same fashion as he did when we sent Ricky Hatton over there also in his first fight at 147 having moved up from Light-Welter.

Khan goes rushing in and gets caught with a flush check hook, fight over, Mayweather gets his money and goes home with an improved fight record

Khan has very good footwork and hand speed Khan's jaw is weak yeah but Floyd is not known for having knockout power. I want to see more of Khan with Virgil hunter If he can be as effective as he was with Roach offensively but have a little Defense in his game he might be good. I doubt it though if he starts fighting like Andre Ward he is gonna be in trouble

Khan was putting alot of pressure on Maidana which lead to ineffectiveness by him you seen it in the Broner fight but Broner stopped throwing.

I really can't stand Khan, but I think his speed and style would be best suited to upset Mayweather. A slugger who goes right at Floyd clearly isn't gonna beat Floyd, but a quick, fast runner who avoids exchanges might be the type of fighter to do it. Khan's chin is a potato chip, if he gets hit, he goes.

no. he has a weak chin knocked out in round 1 by bum prescott knocked out by garcia before round 5 and wobbled by decent fighter julio diaz in his last fight. if maidana was not a slow starter in that fight khan would have got knocked out.

Its actually overrated, especially recently after Floyd fight is up in the air.

uhmmm, how many times did that chin gave up on him?

He survived a Maidana onslaught when others have wilted and been dropped. I think that he just makes very poor decisions when he gets hurts and leaves his chin out there. If he would just get on his

bicycle and dance a bit when he gets hurt he would be a great fighter.

*I am in no way trying to justify Amir Khan as an opponent for Mayweather with this thread, just chin talk!*
